The United Nations is a Sham

More than just us

The UN not only works against our interests it works against it own interests. Socialism,Communism, and Fascism are acceptable traits among its members. Democracy and Individual rights are frowned on. The UN had failed to meet its charter when it stopped at the 38th parallel. It has continued to fail ever since. It has been a massive fraud and waste. Resolutions passed by any UN entity are not worth the paper they are printed on. Why should the leader of a Democratic society be giving a speech to a group of Autoctratic, Fascist, Despotic thugs? If this is the World Stage, get me off of here.

JamesBiga

I couldn't agree with you more!

We must put pressure on our leaders to throw this corrupt, inept, sham of an organization out!

If we get a majority in the upcoming election, and eventually have enough conservatives in charge, we might actually be able to do this!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate hearing your thoughts!

This is a topic that

should unite all Americans. The UN is a corrupt operation that has caused millions of deaths because it does not enforce it's own resolutions. And to think that Syria chaired the Human Rights arm of the UN--well that is comic relief. It's like David Caruso on CSI:Miami. He is such a bad actor that it has to be an inside joke and it's the same at the UN--the things they do have to be tongue in cheek. We need an organization that you qualify to join by your behavior and put real rewards in for membership. That might clean up the corrupt governments in Africa that destroy their citizens. We don't need John Kerry's global test. This doesn't unite us because the Left feels it would be a victory for Bush and they wouldn't want that. It's OK for the country to lose as long as Bush does. They never put their country ahead of their politics.

goblue

It shouldn't be that hard to do, closing them down! If they were a corporation...Kofi would be behind bars, and it would be declared bankrupt!

You are so right, it's impossible to take these jokers seriously...

Syria...chaired the human rights arm...like David Caruso...pretty funny...inside joke...I'll say!

I agree about qualifications and rewards--exactly! We must defeat the Left in the next elections so we can have a glimmer of hope to get the job done.

Thanks for checking in and sharing you thoughts!

Ancient artifact..

The UN that is. I completely agree, the UN is pathetic and useless. I had hoped that after we snubbed them over Iraq that we would just walk away and leave them to their own devices. Things didn't work out that way, I guess.

If we manage to dissolve the organization that would be great, but we can't withdraw. Our security council veto is too important. Who knows what mischief they might get into if we weren't checking them.

The UN as traveshamockery

The UN is a collection of the appointed representatives of non-representative dictatorships and kleptocracies: is it any wonder that the UN works against liberal democracies?

If the UN didn't exist, no one would believe that it could exist. The entire concept of the UN is laughable: making stable, responsible democracies the equivalent of unstable dictatorships; granting observer status to the PLO, but refusing to grant a seat to Taiwan; giving permanent seats on the Security Council to nations to make them feel better (France and China); and et cetera.

The UN is a joke, a farce, a sham, a travesty, a mockery, a traveshamockery.

H@#$ hath no fury...

like former UN-believers scorned.

Did anyone see Ron Silver's film, "Broken Promises, the UN Turns 60"? It's a great film. I liked it better than his other recent political film, "Faren-hype 911". I think I ordered mine off on Amazon.

He is one of the many New Yorkers who grew up in the shadow of the UN and who believed in the founding ideals of the organization (as naive as they seem now). Since then, Silver has actually paid attention to what the UN has done, and calls them out for their actions.

It is really good. I haven't read Eric Swann's book, the Fox News correspondent who covers the UN, but it sounds like the same premise.

David Ensley

Ancient artifact...yes, and hosting a man who believes he is going to be ushering in the 12th Imam...to end the world as we know it...Ahmadneedsanosejob actually ended his speech with prayer to his god...with a lot of sharia stuff going on in his speech!

How can this "artifact" continue?

You make a good point about our veto, we can't withdraw, but with this fanatic having equal time to our president...what's wrong with this picture???/...something has to change!

Thanks for checking in Dave, I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

mgraves

You got that right! Why have we allowed this "travishamockery" as you so well put it to continue to exist? We should have kicked their b*tts out of New York years ago!

As you say, how can these dictatorships carry the same weight as a democracy that has free elections by the peopple, when they rule with an iron fist????

Thanks for that...good comments.

Christian D. Bareford

I didn't see the film, but based on your comments I will get a DVD. That is very interesting....to have Silver change his heart- felt beliefs in the organization based on it's performance is quite a testament to it's failure...

Is Eric Swan the Fox guy that exposed the oil for food scandal?

Good points well made...thanks

The UN should be disbanded

It is a corrupt organization that is being usurped by even more corrupt nations and individuals.

It is more than useless, it is dangerous.

justaguy

Dangerous...no kidding...:)you are right on! These people have no allegience to democracies. They need to yield the sword to keep their people in line.

What was it, 180 nations(?)leaders were smoking cigars with Castro and friends plotting against us over in Cuber with Ahmadneedsanosejob, then he jumps on a plane and flies over to New York to speak at the UN?... this is a problem...

You said it right! DANGEROUS!

SEND THEM TO HAITI!!

I have been a proponent for quite some time of disbanding the UN and sending it to Haiti. Haiti has a whole bunch of problems - some that the UN might actually be able to fix. We should send them there (and get rid of them).

And why do we need to have a replacement start from scratch? That would be the third attempt at something that obviously doesn't work - world government. The first would be the League of Nations.

We should just disband the UN, and let every nation run its affairs itself - and enter into alliances and treaties with other nations. It would be evil regimes worst nightmare - no means of stopping the spread of democracy.

I've posted about the UN extensively at my blog.

Check it out

http://arandomguy.townhall.com

I get into some pretty extensive arguments as to why the UN should be sent to Haiti. We spend too much money on the UN, keeping it running, giving them our land on our soil. The UN must be disbanded or America will be weakened. America is the source of righteousness and justice on Earth. Not the UN.

arandomguy

Terrific point! I guess you might say starting from scratch might lead to scratching the whole thing!

We need alies, and that would be the main point of joinning with other like-minded countries, to help defend agaisnt a common enemy, and to give assistance to flegling democracies, but as fallen humans tend to do, we'd probably mess that up too...:)

Great comment! I'll check your blog- thanks!

Open Mike for Dictators and Terrorist

As far as I'm concerned the U.N. is useless. Anytime Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is allowed equal billing as Bush things have gone south.

Thunder Runner

I agree. Many are saying he is the Hitler of our day...

Thanks for checking in!

one more thing

I haven't heard any news outlet report Ahmadinjad's prayer at the end of his speech, that was a prayer to his god. He believes he is the one who will usher in the 12th Imam to end the world as we know it and bring the reign of the Imam savior!

Where is the MSM reporting this????

Can you imagine if Bush had PRAYED at the UN?...

Unbelievable!

Prayer

I think we should help him speed up the return of his 12th Imam. Give him the war he is looking for. When the Imam doesn't return, how many conversions away from Islam would there be? My bet is they would find away around it.

More than a Sham

Assuming you heard some of the audio of the speeches of jokers like CHavez and Amadinutjob.

I dont know what was more bizarre, their speeches about Bush being a devil and bringing back the 12th imam or the enthusiastic applause they received from the audience.

James Biga

Good suggestion!...:)I think Israel will have to take some action soon...this man believes what he says...

Thanks for commenting!

Prysson

Chavez...yes, I heard...most loved socialist by the Left...next to Castro in G*d-likeness...

Applause...not a surprise...very scary...

Thanks for stopping by!:)

I'm thinking

after this display from Chavez, Ahmadinejad, and other Leftist looneys' at the UN, people in this country are going to be realize how much they sound like the Dems, and vote Republican...:)

Compatibility

I just read a great book by Tom Kilgannon called Diplomatic Divorce, and it really depicts how little countries in the U.N. vote with the U.S. Only four countries vote with the U.S. in the General Assembly and three of them are Palau, Israel, and Micronesia.

Nick

Thanks for the heads up on the book. I'll check it out...somehow that doesn't surprise me...

Thanks for checking in and commenting!

I agree with all of the above

The U.N. is costly to us, and they hate us. Let's send them back to where they came from. It's such a joke that these thugs and dictators can get on the same stage as our President and spew such hate speech against us.

Chavez called Bush a Devil and said that he could still smell the sulphur as he stood there. I wonder what would happen if our President went to his country and did that?

Good blog. /;)

UN

The problem with the UN is that it makes responsible democracies the equals of brutal, irresponsible autocracies. Liberal democracies, by remaining in the UN, lend legitimacy to the UN and to the foul regimes that populate the UN.

It becomes a self-supporting argument: the UN is valid b/c it represents the will of the nations of the world; a nation is not legitimate unless it is recognized by the UN (cf Taiwan); a nation is not legitimate unless it recognizes the authority of the UN, after all, the UN represents the will of the nations of the world.

Ah, bollocks.

Chavez offered to take the UN

So why don't we give it to him?

Sandra

Hey, glad you're back. That's not a bad idea...ship them all back to their respective countries...

Remember when Pat Robertson made the "mistake" of saying our special ops should go take care of Chavez?... I think he was right...:) this guy is a dangerous man, and he has dangerous plans for south America, Mexico, Cuba...and he's got loads of money...it's not a pretty picture...

mgraves

That's the problem, because now we have these dangerous people who really have plans to do us harm, sharing equal status with Bush...and they are given credibilty by the MSM...

We're caught in a trap...(promise I won't break out in song)...:) where's Jimmy Carter when you need him?...:)

Thanks for your comments, mgraves:)

arandomguy

Give Chavez the UN...hmmm...that was the only thing he said that made any sense...the man is a nutter...

Good to hear from you!:)

den of thieves

We seriously ought to leave the UN. The 5 billion ( that's with a B) we dish out to the UN is to our oen shame. Our own citizens could be aided with that money. The majority hate us, side against us every opportunity they get and only want our $, rather it be in UN dues, when there is a world disaster.

Carole

Yes, isn't it ironic? We have the UN meeting here on our soil, and members (thieves)like Chavez going around getting all the MSM attention he wants while he belittles our President...

We must kick the bums out! It is a huge waste of our dollars. I certainly hope we wake up!

Thanks for checking in. It's good to hear your perspective.

I agree

with both of you, Sheila and Carole.

Also, I just saw this on the Townhall News: "Ahmadinejad uses U.N. to boost his image." I didn't realize that the purpose of the U.N. was to boost the image of dicators and murderers. I thought that it's purpose was to promote peace and understanding among the Nations i.e. United Nations, not Unworthy Nations.

Sandra

Exactly...I believe people are so irrate about this situation, that changes will be forthcoming.
This has gone way too far.

Thanks for that thought!

Long term, UN is tarnished by this week

I don't think that the American people were terribly impressed by the UN this week. Heck, when Charlie Rangoll and Nancy Pelosi are slamming el presidente Chavez for being a common thug, then you know he has dropped to the depths of society. Foxnews.com had a poll on the site today, something to the effect of "Should the US continue to fund the UN?" After I responded a definite "no" the other results appeared. 94% No. Something like 3% "Yes" and 1% "uncertain".

I have no idea what Danny Glover was thinking. He has fallen off the map of sanity.

Good job Koffi A-nonleader, you have effectively destroyed the image of your organization in the hearts of the country who funds said organization. Not that you care....

Christian D. Bareford

It has been a bad week!:)You got that right! You know it's bad when Rangoll and Pelosi are poo-pooing Chavez...I think they are worried the American people are going to find his rants a little too similar to what they hear from the Dems, and they are scrambling to cover their b*tts...

Interesting about the poll..94% against funding the UN sounds pretty good!

Danny Gover...he's gone nuts...

Good job Koffi A-nonleader...you're cracking me up...

It may wind up as a good week for republicans...:)
