After Nov. 4, a new GOP party ?

The GOP will be fine

The funny thing about that data that shows Americans doing better under a Democratic president, much of the time the Democrats were in control of Congress. It's seldom as much about what the policy is than it is about how well it's being implemented, and that's Congress. And clearly the Democrats in Congress are more interested in using the economy to drive their leftist agenda and return a Democrat to the White House than they are in keeping the economy healthy. So maybe that data is valid, maybe not. But if so, it just proves what I've always suspected, that Congressional Democrats sabotage the efforts of a Republican president.

As for a new GOP, I think the real story is the new Democratic party. It's not the party that it was when it lost power in 1994. It has been transformed from within. It's now the new Progressive Party, and many moderate Democrats don't even know it. What I'd like to see is an invitation to those moderate Democrats to join the GOP, since the centrist GOP policies are more compatible with moderate Democrats than the left-of-liberal Progressives who are now running Congress (and may soon be controlling the White House as well) and pushing the US back to the days of the New Deal and beyond. A GOP that can draw from moderate Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, as a unified force against the radical socialist left, would be unstoppable.

Meege

I agree if the underlying philosophy was a conserv view of economics, national security, education, Court appointments. One cannot compromise with cancer. You have to kill it. Defeat it. Socialist pacifism that is now the , Progressive Left Party as you call it is not workable in the USA. It isn't workable historically in any nation but losers and they stay that way! BTW, the first Progressive Party was T.R.'s Bull Moose Party. He would have gagged over the faux Messiah!
