global warming vs. reality...the Taxman cometh

Merry Christmas

As an aetheist, I still enjoy the Christmas Holiday and all it meant to me growing up and as an excuse for the family to gather and regenerate relationships. I appreciate the Merry Christmas thought.

However, as this thought brings up the issue of religion’s role in America, I offer an observation. Recently, a group of non-believers posted a sign in Washington State. One part read, “Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.”

If you accept this definition, I wonder how many of the progressives out there who hate the religious right would recognize the same behavior in themselves. The issue of global warming is a prime example. While there is great debate over the impact of man on the short term history of global warming, the members of this religion will do anything to shun and marginalize any non-believers. The evidence of uncivil behavior and unwillingness to discuss exactly parallel the behaviors they excoriate in the religious right.

I believe it is just good manners to keep your area clean for those around you. There is no need to make cleaning up messes a religion whose real agenda is the elimination of capitalism and individual wealth. The hard-hearted demonization of anyone who questions the conclusions and beliefs of this religion is evidence of enslaved minds who never think beyond the dogma of the priests of global warming.

Many other progressive issues are pursued with the same religious rigor of exclusion and demonization. As Samuel Cleemons once said, “When you find yourself in the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

Merry Christmas - oops, Happy Holidays, to all the hypocrites out there who criticize regligion for its behavior towards those un-baptized and subsequently become what they so vehemently hate.
