Congrats, to our own TH blogger!
I am still amazed at the liberal responses of others on the issue of marriage...they really believe what they're writing...
Truly deceived, my friend.
Thanks for taking action, and sharing the results with us, it's a blessing to see others stand and speak for truth!
Keep on, Jason.

You are correct...It boils down good vs evil, right and wrong and where you stand, and they can not answer or be accountable for the reply.

It's always good to see an active participant in life, not one just sitting on the sidelines. The ones that let their 'lights shine, not hidden under a bushel'.
My mornings are spent contacting my congresswhores. Living in IL is rather an exercise in futility, but I keep trying.
I din't realize you lived in CO. I've visited there twice and felt so close to God in the mountains that I still get the chills thinking about it. I was there in '69 and '72. Would love to go back, but things just don't quite work out that way.
God bless, and keep up the good work.

Congrats on eliciting the ire of the leftists who want to further downgrade the moral authority of the United States. Well done!!
Not to be crude or anything, but I really have an issue listening to anyting someone says who does not know what their parts are for. Simple biology has been turned into "anything goes" and it's ... goofy.
BTW, have a relative who is gay and 'married' so I am not without personal experience with this issue.
Congrats again ... good letter and thoughtful counter-response!

I was saddened by our fellow Coloradans when I read some of those "refutes." I also wish we still had the Rocky Mountain News. At least that paper wasn't far left! I also think it's funny that they have no idea what some of the verses in the old testament mean, yet they quote them thinking they've won an argument! Don't worry, they'll keep using emotion, and you'll keep using facts to debate. No matter what this debate will go on and on for years. By the way, I live here in Aurora! Lots of independents around me. Just met one at the park yesterday who plans to start a small business! She hates whats going on in this administration, but also wants to chase the American dream and live her life. I'm sure the independents here, even those who voted for Obama, are as angry as the rest of us. That's why your posting, so that they realize the truth, not just what they hear in the media.
Great post!

I keep responding to em....If fact I did agin this morning. You cant change most opinions bu I try. Independents definately are in a state of shock right now....most should switch sides...I hope. Is Obamas plan just to bankrupt us and move us to socialism? It seems that way.
Take Care Eric!!

One Bloggers response
This was a reply from one blogger on my Denver Post letter.....this is awesome.....where do they come up with this stuff. The Sad thing is.....they believe it.
"In the end it all comes down to math. Ever day X amount of people are born gay and 0 amount of people are born anti-gay.
Anti-gay has to be taught and every year there are fewer people who want to teach this. Every day more gay people declare themselves and their families and friends accept them. It is only a matter of time.
Because heterosexual homophobics believe people choose to be gay, they live with the fear that the right man or woman may appear to them and they will be turned in a heartbeat. If they knew better the fear would leave."

I was struck by the fact that
the responses were more accurate than your letter.
See Stephanie Coontz probably the leading expert
on the history of marriage for more.
stephaniecoontz.com
One point she makes is that polygamy is probably
the most common form of marriage throughout history.
Second and most important, marriage is dynamic and
thus changes over time as do its ceremonies.
Oh and you can also take a quiz on marriage at her
site. See how you do.

Ok I will you some credit here...
She make some good points....also some selfish ones in regards to the marriage with children.
further down the list I assume the name truthsayer to add further fun to the string of responses.
Again ...we agree to disagree.

Agreeing to disagree
You're agreeing to disagree on facts:
"polygamy is probably the most common form of marriage throughout history."
"marriage is dynamic and thus changes over time as do its ceremonies."
Unless you don't believe polygamy was practiced
or can be defined as marriage. Or you believe
marriage is a static institution in its form and
ceremony.
Whether or not polygamy is the "most" common form
it should be agreed that it is relatively common.
And is a form of marriage practiced since the
dawn of time.
It should also be agreed that the institution of
marriage changes over time.
So I cannot agree to disagree on facts I can on
opinions.

My opinion.......
Is with polygamy....why be married at all?? It is just for a title only if you ask me. It is just a term. If you read the threads you know where I stand. I believe it is between one man and one woman. It is an act of selflessnees...one must die to one's self and dedicate themselves to the other....each together.
I believe God designed marriage as an instrument to make us more like Christ.
Can we lay down our own ambitions to love and serve our spouse? Through marriage we can learn about unconditional love, respectful honor, how to forgive and be forgiven. We can see our shortcomings and grow from that insight. We can develop a servant's heart, and draw closer to God. As a result, true soul happiness can be discovered, and this, I believe is one of God's ultimate desires and purposes for designing the covenant of marriage.
If a man's 1st married wife is his rightful one, all others are women living with him in adultery. How can one man dedicate his time, love(if you believe that in that type of marriage)and life equally?
God Created One Husband (Adam) and one wife (eve) as the pattern. Abraham SINNED(key word) by having more that one wife. That caused the trend of most of the Old testament : trickery and deceit jealousy and strife, because they drifted away from God's plan ,and since God knows man, I think he knows what is best for us.
I have stated my why's......I would ask. Why should the institution of marriage change?
Polygamy is common but to me it is not right, it is foolish.

Why should the institution of marriage
change?
As stated it has always changed.
It is a dynamic institution and is a part of
culture while at the same time it makes culture.
Interesting!
This is one of Stephanie Coontz's main points in
her editorials - whether or not we should have
gay marriage is beside the point of the argument
that marriage shouldn't change is like saying
man should not grow old - what's wrong with all
of us as we are right now?

Isnt it posssible that over time, socieities view of things have changed. Are you saying to change the variety's of of marriage (same sex) 2 women 1 man), or the reasons for the marriage itself?
