As usual, the hypocrisy

They have Draconian laws against illegal migration into their own country, yet criticize us for any effort to address the problem of their citizens violating OUR laws.
Hey! Maybe someone caught violating this law could use the excuse that they're simply bringing the extra fuel across the border to make sure that illegal alien Mexicans in the US still have access to cheaper Mexican gas!

This is a fantastic idea. I am all for it. When does it start?
As for the fines, what a bunch of nut heads. By the way as they were being fined, 350 went over the fence, no fine was given.
You know, I think we should also have a fuel for dough program too. Lets send all of the gas bills from the border patrol to Mexico in exchange for money. The border patrol would not really be down there if Mexico obeyed the laws.

The country is overrun by illegals.
They are importing labor in a down job market.
Gas is $4.
Houses are losing their value.

Well, actually we can continue the people for oil program. We can load up the border patrol vehicles with illegals, cross the border exchange them for the gas and then go back home.
I see this as a win-win situation. Good plan.

Since I am a Washington fan giving up Aikman's ring, tickets and the insufferable Jerry Jones' rolex is fine with me.

The government down there is a joke. The North is a crazy-quilt of fiefs run by the local bandit-chiefs. There was a war going on in TJ between the Federales and the Army over who was calling the shots. As far as taxing the money those poor people make, that's mean. They get ripped off badly enough by everyone else, lets not join in. We've got to come up with some kind of system of temporary work permits that will regularize some of these workers. As far as Mexico ever having an honest government, don't hold your breath.

Of course nothing will get done. Are we shocked, not really. The one thing that has always bothered me about the entire immigration issue is the fact that no one wants to do anything really. Is everyone afraid that they are going to offend or hurt their feelings? Aren't they breaking the law?
In CA this is a big problem. We are so in the hole in this state.

Every time we get an election this issue sinks in the minds of voters as politicians and the media divert the voters attention to other issues.
Not to say that the war, energy, taxes, and all of the other big issues aren't important but the fact is that until voters start to throw pols out of office with the clear message that this practice is unacceptable, we will not see it resolved.
This time around both candidates for president are pro-illegal. A democrat controlled congress is going to pass amnesty or worse after January and whoever is president is going to sign it. I fear the voters may have missed their opportunity to remain a sovereign nation by failing to reject Amnesty John as the GOP candidate.

Of course the war was more toward the top and energy was not that high up, but it has moved up since the price of oil and a gallon of gas has gone through the roof.
I still remember Obama saying that he would support driver's license's for the illegals. That still floors me. Of course Clinton could not make her mind between yes and no.

I certainly fault the Mexican government, and other governments, for creating the situation that drives illegals to the U.S.
However, if we don't control the influx of those who decide that it is our problem to fix their misery, we will soon have no better way of life to offer anyone. Compassion has to be regulated by reality.
The reality is that we can't just throw our borders open. Another reality is that Americans are being displaced by illegals and are finding themselves out of work and in misery themselves.
We have seen the results of compassion without reality across the world. As compassionate agencies establish refugee camps in the wake of some upheaval. They gather more people together than can be reasonably served and create a brand new misery. Nobody wins.
It's just my opinion and I realize that reasonable people might disagree with me. At the current rate I don't think it will take long to find out if I right.

You know, the ones who love cats so much that they eventually have 75 or 100 of them living in squalid conditions, until the smell gets go bad the health department becomes involved. I understand that many ranchers along the border are already cooperating with the Minuteman Project to build fencing. As far as armed citizens resisting goes, I would say that the cases of Ramos and Compean call into question whether or not BORDER AGENTS can fire on violent illegals trying to cross the border.
Armed incursions across the border are occurring with some frequency and violence in American cities by illegals is pushing deaths by traffic accident as a prominent statistic.
And yet the federal government, whose actually constitutional duty it is to defend these borders, does nothing.
One can only conclude that the business interests being served by these new slaves are as strong as the green interests that drive the AGW scam and the "no energy" energy plans.
You would think that when something came up that had the benefit of public support, and was actually constitutional, that the feds would be all over it.

I read your article a day or 2 ago; and I have been thinking about it ever since.
Short of the citizens just telling the Feds "to go to h*ll" and shooting all illegals on sight (in other words, armed revolution), I am not sure what can be done.
If enough citizens shot back at Mexican Army and government personnel, we could start a "border" war. But the War for Texas Independence pretty much started the same way.

IMO, the mayhem on the border is the direct result of the failure of government to abide by it's constitutional duty to protect the country.
The constitution gives us our rule of law. When the rule of law is circumvented, regardless of the reasons, good or bad, the result is chaos. To me, this is the only REAL impeachable offense committed by the Bush administration.
The congress would like to impeach him but unfortunately they are, for the most part, guilty as well. The whole situation is a fundamental violation of the public trust.
At some point people will probably act and then watch how fast the government moves to prosecute these citizens for their hate crimes.
Every six year old understands inherently the concept of "my room". You would think that the President of the United States of America and the Congress would be at least as bright.

sarge, ghost This is one of my main beefs with McCain....WHERE IS THE FENCE???we got mexican bullets coming at us as well as illegals who do not give a d___ about America. When people came over to the US in the 20s-30s they wanted not only a better life...they wanted to be AMERICANS.

Don't look for a fence in our future. There never was and never will be any commitment on the part of government to anything more than "talk" about fences and control on the border. That was just "red meat" for the voters in '06.
With McCain and Obama as the candidates there is no longer any reason for a pretense concerning control. I look for the next four years to bring a change to America that will alter the basics of what being an American even means.
We have arrived at a point when a socialist like Nancy Pelosi will actually say out loud that "SHE", all by herself, will not allow a vote in our representative assembly. Even the president only gets a veto, subject to override.
And where is the press? Feeling shivers up their legs.

Where does it end?????
Word is that throu the SPP with mexica and Canada we're actually building a fence - on the southern border of Mexico to keep out those "dangerous" central Americans. Our agents get shot at by Mexican policia and soldiers, US citizens being kidnapped and then brought to Mexico and held for ransom, and more US Border Patrol Agents ending up in prison for actually trying to do their job. This is the result of SPP and "integration with our neighbors. If we don't stop this thing soon we're screwed. By ammo!

Mike Conaway, congressman, is soliciting input for the GOP convention platform. His current topic is illegal immigration. Take a few moments and let him have your thoughts/suggestions.

I too had heard reports (not personally verified) that the U.S. was assisting Mexico financially with a southern border fence.
Glenn Beck has dedicated a considerable amount of time to these issues on his radio and TV programs. As far as I can tell, his is just about the only public voice I have heard giving and attention to this subject.
The press is avoiding it since it doesn't help Obama. The major candidates are on the same page on this issue so it is not even a question in the election. Likewise, at least in Virginia, I am not seeing or hearing any discussion about illegals.
Democrats and Republicans alike are hoping that the public is too distracted by gas prices, drilling, trouble in Georgia and the economy to zero in on an issue that will put them at odds with their respective nominees.
The phones need to ring at the congressional switchboard. Questions need to be asked by the public during their campaigns. If they think we've moved on from the issue so will they!

Thanks for the heads up on the platform solicitation. I assume that Conaway is on the platform committee and is not raising this issue on his own. His score card at NumbersUSA.com gives him a lifetime "B" which puts him almost at the bottom of republicans in the house with regard to illegal immigration.
I'll give him my thoughts just the same but it does strike me as strange that a rep who is one of the few republicans in congress who is NOT a member of the immigration reform caucus would be doing this solicitation.
