I would suggest that maybe conscience played a roll in the success of Obama's campaign - not white guilt, but the imperative to do the right thing for a change - not just to vote for one's self interests. The self-interest (greed) vote was how we got Alfred E. Bush as a president. I'm still irritated that he'll be in the textbooks and on school walls and in the nation's memory for longer than he deserves. But then maybe it's good to reflect on the terrible mistake of the Bush presidency so that we will never make such a horrible error again.
