Gore at Monticello gaffe hoax
The Hermit Crab "Sick and Tired": "A hint comes from an Ann Coulter column ... (There is actual footage of Al Gore, then-Vice President of the United States of America, being unable to identify busts of the Founding Fathers at Monticello, but almost the only place you can see it is at Rush Limbaugh's website. Yet Gore is the "Goracle".)"
There is no such footage!
You can actually get a DVD of Gore's visit directly from C-SPAN this very day!
The DVD is full screen, full motion, high resolution video with CD quality audio, not that postage stamp sized Limbaugh video. DELIGHTFULLY REVEALING!
If Conservatives are not all scripted by the GOP, how do you explain the fact that every Conservative pundit made the same mistake? Other than the obvious deduction that they all plagiarized the same erroneous GOP talking points script as their own individual opinion, of course!

NIce Try, Ed
I'm sure the DVD video you refer to is very well produced and edited (to remove Al Gore's gaffe, that is), but I actually saw the video of his inability to recgnize the busts of our Founding Fathers at Monticello back in the 1990s when it happened. I remember the footage of Hillary Clinton at a 9/11 event shortly after it happened, and how the booing she received was edited out when the video of the event was released. It's called "planting false evidence in the historical record", and it's one of the things I despise most in life.
I certainly am not scripted by the GOP (actually, they often drive me to despair), and anyone who knows Ann Coulter by her writings instead of just by her reputation knows that she isn't, either. If you ever find one of those "talking point memos" that the GOP supposedly sends out, though, please send it along. I suspect it would be fun to review.
Thanks for writing, though. I was wondering if anyone was ever going to bother to disagree with me. I feel better now.

Ed The Cynic replies: Be real! Why would C-SPAN alter the video? That's a mighty desperate claim! The only edited video is the MRC video forgery by Brent Bozell.
I too saw the Gore Monticello visit in 1993 and caught Limbaugh lying about it on his 1/18/93 TV show, which I taped.
You saw only what the scripted pundits suggested you should see, and you missed what was actually on the video. The unaltered video shows Gore asking the curator to ID the busts of Lafayette and John Paul Jones who are NOT Founding Fathers.
You may not be scripted, but if not then you are brainwashed. You underestimate the Power of Suggestion and your susceptibility to its reach.
Which brings us back to my question, since there is no witness, no video, in fact no anything to support your claim, how do you explain all the Conservative pundits INDEPENDENTLY making the same common mistake?

The same way all of the liberals (I'd say "brainwashed", but I will not stoop to your level)make the same mistake of saying that no weapons of Mass Destruction were found in Iraq, I suppose.
I'd be pleased to continue this debate (or willing, anyway) were you more civil, but, alas, you are not, so I bid you adieu. Have a long, happy life with your pomposity. May you always receive the courtesy you give.

Cut & Run if you want
I think I have been extremely civil to a person who made false claims and false accusations that you can't support when challenged.
Having never seen the C-SPAN DVD you pronounced it "edited (to remove Al Gore's gaffe, that is)." How is that not the knee-jerk response of a programed "skull of mush?"
The fact remains there is no footage of Gore being unable to identify busts (plural) of the Founding Fathers (plural) at Monticello. You only think there is footage because people you are foolish enough to trust told you so.
Even Reagan said, "trust, BUT VERIFY.
I checked the video and it doesn't verify your claim.

reliable as Dan Rather
The Hermit Crab: "Extra information and factual corrections will always be accepted with gratitude. Please note the word "actual".
I do not receive "talking point memos" from the Republican Party, or from anyone else for that matter."
------------------
The factual correction is this: there is no "actual footage" of Gore as you claim.
The very Limbaugh video you cite shows Gore himself naming not just any bust, but specifically the left flank bust as Franklin, A FOUNDING FATHER, WITHOUT any help from the curator. There was no gaffe, as you describe.
And if you are going to reference something I posted, at least have the decency to USE it in context, if you expect to see courtesy in return!
I did not say YOU were scripted! I said Limbaugh, Coulter and the rest of Conservative media were exposed as being scripted by the common ERROR in the Gore gaffe you posted.
I said YOU were susceptible enough to suggestion to be "brainwashed" by their Power of Suggestion, to the point where you saw a gaffe as they suggested and you did not see or hear Gore name the bust of Franklin, (actually on the very same Limbaugh video), because you foolishly trust what you get from Conservative media.
I pointed out the C-SPAN video is still readily available and it is bigger and better quality and easier to see and hear than Limbaugh's. If you think it was edited, even though you never saw the DVD, you can always compare it to Limbaugh's. For that matter, you can compare the Brent Bozell MRC video to Limbaugh's video to see the MRC video is a forgery, what you accused C-SPAN of doing without a shred of evidence.
The Gore at Monticello gaffe hoax you posted makes Conservative media as reliable as Dan Rather!
And that and only that is why you want to change the subject or end the debate!
