Other words twisted

So has conservative- never has it become to mean so many narrow minded extreme right wing bigots, until now.

Freedom and Slime

I agree with Jim, and I avoid using the word "conservative." Sanity, you are one of the most thoughtful people in these United States. I believe the country faces a serious question of what we are to do with Moveon.org types. The Constitution now provides freedoms that the Founders never envisioned. Does anyone ever seriously believe that the Founders believed that "nude dancing" -- or things a whole lot worse than nude dancing -- constituted speech? In writing the Second Amendment did the Founders really mean that inner-city teens should all have an assault rifle to kill each other and police? They would be absolutely appalled. If freedom of speech (and press) is a license to print things like Petraeus or Betray Us, then it is something we don't need. We need to discuss these issues seriously rather than fantasize that the Founders would have been foursquare behind people dropping F-bombs on TV and America-haters defaming distinguished generals. I am going to keep recommending your site to everyone who's attention I can get.

You're on Candid Column

Sanity, take a look at the bottom section of my column today. Sept. 11)

Well said.

The problem is less with the words and more with the definitions chosen for what the words designate.

9/11 Luxury

I understand the thought process, of wanting to give your party the finger and protest vote. However after 9/11, party purity is a luxury we cannot afford. I'm not electing a President next November, I'm electing a Commander In Chief.

The Interface:

Clinton started it with his spin on "not inhaling" and "oral" not being real. But it's getting to the point where any form of speech seems to have a trap floor.

You know it's bad when BOTH sides seem to be singing the same song.

Chris

Some people think that the Dems will support the war when it is no longer Bush's war...but I believe the ex-Vietnam war bashers will never accept war. They will go on, till their dying day, denying their "peace" movement had anything to do with the death of 2 million human beings...or the hatred and disrespect of Americans world wide.

This is why, we cannot afford to allow the Commander of the world's most powerful military to be someone who loathes them.

Well said!

You nailed it. Yesterday on the anniversary of 9/11, Democrats in the Senate showed their true colors, including Hillary, Obama, and the other guy.
They are anti-America and anti-America winning!

What they demonstrated yesterday is exactly how they feel. They believe our military is betraying America. They don't care about the 3,000 that died on that day. They loathe the military and Bush. Heaven forbid that Hillary or any of them should become Commander in Chief!!!
