Why Raising the Minimum Wage in California Hurts the Economy, Not Helps It.

good basic discussion of economics

in this post, good example. Just one problem. didn't he sign the Minimum wage increase? I deliver pizzas as one of my two summer jobs (I am a teacher during the school year) and I could swear that there was a sign saying minimum was up to 7.50 1/1/07 and 8.00 1/1/08. Maybe I am mistakes. Also, another point is that most minimum wage type jobs are entry level, meaning high school or college kids, or people entering the work force or doing a second part time job. They are not really meant to support a family or anything, so a minimum wage increase does harm in raising prices (inflation) or in creating harder competition for new jobs, while not helping out the "working poor" it is aimed at. Higher wages occur naturally when a company wants to keep better quality and/or skilled workers.
