Cause and Solution

Just one man's opinion here after attending thousands of meetings and watching the amazing process of recovery in some, relapse in others and unfortuneatly death for a few. I no longer need answers as to why I used or was pre-disposed to addiction. I focus on the solution and tools - 12 step meetings, prayer, helping others, healthy diet, exercise, a job etc. From what I have experienced - "self will" was not a part of my recovery - it was part of my addiction. Instead, I would substitute "self will" with the word "surrender"; surrender to the disease and an acceptance that I alone cannot recover from a hopeless state of mind, body and spirit.
