A Cheap Way to Feel Good

Way to go, Garnet

Thanks for doing that. It's a rare opportunity that we should all take advantage of.

Garnet

Good for you!! I've done similar things as well, but was able to do it anonomously. Which I like even BETTER.

I do that when I'm at the airport.

Sometimes they are too proud to accept,(maybe because I'm a woman?)Anyway, whether they accept or not, they're always profusely appreciative. Good for you. You're setting a good example.

Thanks Garnet92

PS...Why aren't you announcing your new post on our Bloggers list? You do such a good job, I'm sure you'd get a lot more happy readers. Just a thought. (:-

I wish I'd thought of it too

and will, the next time I get the chance. Thanks Garnet!

BMU, I'll be e-mailing you later

It'll be tomorrow - I'm fighting computer problems.

Agreed Clyde

There simply wasn't another way to do it considering the size of a Subway shop and the fact that the guys were about to pay. I do agree that doing so anonomously would have been better.

Right Bobbie, the airport is an ideal

place to thank the military. Frankly, with any luck, I may never have to fly again. I used to travel a lot and was an American Airlines Gold flyer and an Admiral Club member - now if I never fly again, it'll be too soon. It has become such a hassle, seating tighter, charging for everything and the attendants are refugees from nursing homes - I hate it!

I'll e-mail you too about the Bloggers list question.

Like I said, Dave

The guys got such a kick out of it - for such a simple thing - I was glad I did it.

It is often...

...the simplest things that mean the most, because it says that you noticed and cared even though the recipient was only doing what they knew they should be doing anyway. This tactic works well in marriage also.

Thanks for sharing this example. I will have to remember it for when I'm traveling as well.

Interface, thanks for stopping by

I've just returned from your blog and I did love the five nums with long guns - talk about a formidable foe!

Thank you

The simple act of buying a soldier his lunch will leave that warrior with a story to tell, and it will be told. Your action will have a good effect on the morale of the unit those soldiers belong to, I can testify to that. You set a fine example for us all.

Thanks for visiting Top

It seems so simple, and irrefutable:

1. our military is a volunteer force,
2. they are tasked with protecting the United States,
3. many of them will be wounded or killed in the line of duty,
4. they put their personal lives on hold to serve their country,
5. they ask for no more than our respect.

Is it too much to ask that we thank them for their service? Some think so - and those that do don't deserve to be protected by these heroes.

On behalf

of my fellow military folks, thanx!

Nice job! I have tried to do things like this too. Also have to always thank them when you see them.

I am very thankful to our military. They are wonderful and I think they need to be more appreciated!

Craw and Sue, Thanx to you too

I just wanted to jog everyone's memory - sometimes we forget to acknowledge our men and women in uniform. I know I'm guilty of missing opportunities 'cause I'm engrossed in my own life - just wanted to bring the issue up again so we don't forget.

There is a girl at the drugstore that I go to. Her husband is in Iraq. He will be home in February. She is 20 years old. I was talking to her a few months ago and she mentioned this. I told her to tell her husband thank you so much for his service. She startd to cry. It was sad. But she was so grateful.

There are times when I have missed opportunities too. And thank you for doing that.

Thanks Sue

You've identified another item that should have been included in the reasons to thank our military - the pain suffered by their families. I feel for your 20 year-old friend, barely an adult and has to deal with the absence of her husband - and the knowledge that he may not come back.

I am definitely a hawk when it comes to securing this country, but all war is hell - even though it may be necessary.

I always find it amazing and of course makes me ill when people do not support the military. They would not be able to spew their garbage if it was not for the military. It makes me ill.

I was looking at the nominees for Time person of the year and fascinating people and all that, the military should get it. I remember Time gave it to them year ago, but they should get it again and again.

As for being young, yes this girl is extremely young. She is staying with her parents until he returns. She gets letters from him, so I do know he is still alive. She works almost every day, so I see her all of the time. My mom gave her a Target gift card for Christmas and of course she cried.
