...but he's been a huge disappointment to me in several respects. One being that he allows himself and the Repubs to be a doormat for the dem's to walk all over.
I totally agree, he should call a special session. Several. But I doubt he will. He'll continue w/that "new tone" doormat style of his.
Also, thanks for the encouragement Bobbie. DD

To my fellow bloggers,
Thank you for your comments, Plug, Kevin, Sue and Darvin. And for the encouragement. I voted for "W" both times too and have been dissappointed many times, as has everybody I know. Have no real confidence in anybody running. The good guys are all to smart to run.
Keep up the good work guys.

I voted for "W" twice myself. And sure I have been disappointed. Now for the last remaining months if he would just go rogue, that would be something. It would be great if he called a special session. Get out there in that Rose Garden daily or weekly and start hammering this out.
Get out there and show that we are government for the people by the people. Come on "W."

They're going to slink out of town...
The democrat leadership has no intention of addressing any meaningful legislation at this point. They smell a big win in November and will resist with every trick at their command to stall until the new session beings in January.
I wrote a similar piece at my place. I invite you stop by and comment.

Notice how hopeless we all sound? Isn't it sad that in this great country politicians have reached such a low point that we have no confidence in any of them; either party. Really worrisom.

Hopeless?
I am not sure we are all hopeless with the future, only our current leadership and what is proposed to be our standard bearer. What has been traditionally our forum has left us hanging, and we now lack faith in that forum.
I'd expect each of us to be terribly confident with the American people when pressed, but terrified of those currently leading it.

Yep., that's what I mean.
I'm referring to our so called "leaders". they are indeed a scary bunch;such ineptitude. I think it will take some drastic action from the people to finally bring them down a notch or two. Got to admit tho, that "the people" need to get off their duffs and do something sooner better than later; and better than putting someone even worse in charge.
Thanks VDaddy

As you said, "do nothing" is far too kind for this bunch of "boat anchors" around our collective necks. George Bush has some good qualities but he probably hasn't the guts to call them into session. I'll be glad to admit I'm wrong if he does. This is a golden opportunity to force the issue and let the American voters see how they react. Great Post!

not screwing us, but screwing us they are!!! (Excuse my French) I believe it will take a near revolution of we the people to get their attention. To go on vacation and leave this hanging is inexcusable; and for Bush to let them get by with it is also inexcusable.

I know it's not hopeless; it just sounds that way sometimes when we're inumerating the follies of the politicians. It's really in our hands. We'll do something about it when things get bad enough.

A special session would be great because
it would force the Dems to show their hand before they have time to bring their kook fringe into line. They have multiple trial balloons going up right now saying they might compromise on drilling. These statements are fraudulent. Everything they will do will have a political calculation behind it. They will never permanently abandon their global warming "principles." The global warming carbon cap and trade program is a key tactic for the accomplishment of their strategic goal of a socialist state. Any appeals for compromise are mere lip service to drilling and are for the consumption of the electorate. Once elected, kiss any compromise on drilling goodbye.

Well if seen 'em, fab, build, tap, tear, and suck in less than a month.
To pull in oil from the ocean will be less than 10 months, unless we have become Russia???

They left DC yesterday
and won't be back for 5 weeks. Mike Pence, (R-Indiana) challenged Bush to convene a special session but Bush declined then criticized dems yesterday for adjourning without voting. Duh. Bush is no Harry Truman or Ronald Reagan. Somwhere along the line he's lost his guts and his backbone. As DD said, he's a doormat for the libs to walk all over. Shame Shame Shame on him.

He would have done himself and his party worlds of good by conveneing a special session, not to mention American citizens who he and the do nothing congress are supposed to serve.

I was disappointed in President Bush. I hope that he might change his mind. Call the session and then run off to the Olympics. Who are you going to offend? Heck, you might get a bump in your approval ratings.
As for Pelosi, that woman is a piece of work and I can not wait for the day that she is stripped of her Madame Speaker status. Of course since her face is frozen, we will not be able to see the look of dismay. Hee! Hee!
