You may want to check on that Brazilian oil independence ...

They are independent of foreign oil, but not because of flex fuels ...

No, he smashed a champagne bottle on the spaceship-like deck of Brazil's vast P-50 oil rig in the Albacora Leste field in the deep blue Atlantic. Why? Brazil's oil independence had virtually nothing to do with its ethanol development. It came from drilling oil."

It came from DRILLING OIL .... oh my ...

Thanks for your comment. I have expanded the post to make it clear that it is foreign oil that Brazil is free from. However I disagree that flex cars and ethanol have not played a significant role in contributing to foreign oil independence. Estimates are that over half of the energy used by cars in Brazil is in the form of ethanol.
