I found the analogy of credit companies and drug dealers interesting, as I had thought of the same analogy last night, except regarding government entitlement programs.

Have you ever seen anyone on welfare actually improve their standard of living while on welfare? Not likely. Social Security, as well.

The benefits are increased little by little, so recipients think they are getting more, but there's never quite enough to make things better.

It’s not that no one will do the dirty

work; it’s that no one except illegals are willing to be abused for pennies.(I agree totally!!)

Illegal aliens under cut American laborers willing to do any sh!t job if they're paid decently for work...Americans are forced to fight for bones with no meat. (they also have to follow housing codes of occupancy illegals get away with until there's a show of concern to enforce laws.) I live in a right to work state.

It's really the same principle when jobs are out sourced to other countries.

The problem is the American worker doesn't matter. This Country is going global...No matter the cost. We've been auctioned off by our government.

“Have you ever seen anyone on welfare actually improve their standard of living while on welfare?” I would like to think so, but the data says otherwise.

There can only be one logical reason why the dems repealed the Welfare Reform Act; to increase their voter base. Why else would you undo a law statistically proven to decrease dependence on government and improve quality of life?

http://www.roadtothemiddleclass.com/blog1739_the_stealth_re peal_of_welfare_reform.html

It proves beyond any doubt, that they don’t give a crap about the poor...only their hold on power.

Good analogy between the illegals taking jobs and outsourcing to countries with little or no labor standards.

How many job opportunities would there be if 15 million illegals were deported, and welfare was stopped? Like back in the bad old days, when you actually had to take personal responsibility and work for a living.

It is also the cost to us...

In Ca., the cost of illegals is frightening in crime rates, arrest rates, public safety as to the over 100,000 gang members in LA County and pushing outwards. Education costs. Welfare and health care costs. And now border costs as to deaths on our southern borders as well as drug and gun running. Yes, illegals are not all wrong or bad as they do work hard at jobs many would not fill. Still , law is law. There is a legal way to get here. Calderon is up against it with rogue police forces and has to depend on the Federales Military forces to keep order. But corruption is so vast in Mexico that the cabals have more money and firepower than the army. Then too, greedy Americans love their dope and some employers will make a buck on their grandmothers. When we set up roadstations with food, flairs and roadmaps for illegals coming north, you know we are cooked geese.

I understand that there are certain jobs that the illegals will do for pennies. As for working in the fields, if the illegals were to leave, then get the prisoners out there to do the work.

I live in CA and I have seen so many things go into the dumper do to our illegal immigration problems. I keep trying to be positive, but it is hard. They have more rights than we do. I can not tell you how many lawsuits we have had in CA. The medical is very bad. The hospitals that take uninsured are packed on Friday - Sunday nights. They use them as a doctor's office. The school are in such shambles. In LA they have classes where some students do not even speak English.

The one thing I will say that they should do is have them learn English. My grandmother came through Ellis Island. She was not allowed to step foot in a school until she knew English.

Also I was a victim of identity theft by a group of illegals. My friend had it worse than me, especially with her taxes!

You sum it up in a nutshell. The cancer on our southern border is spreading. And I don’t expect any substantial action from Obama or his HS Director...just more rhetoric.

Sue

Good comments! You and a few others here are on the front-line of this issue in southwest. I hope you take the opportunity to add some first-hand experiences to your blog.

In border regions, there will ALWAYS be a problem. But I have been NOWHERE in the country that is not AWASH in illegals. Something about it STINKS!

It smells of Macavelian politics cloaked in hope and change.

Any damn fool can see what the dems are attempting by changing the demographics. Anyone denying the obvious is an idiot or lying.

inthenow

Yeah, giving illegal immigrants amnesty to me is a big middle finger to those whom legally immigrated here into the U.S. Why should anyone follow our laws if they're broken and rewarded for this? Also like Rackoons said, many of these illegal immigrants participate in theft, crime, and sucking our tax dollars. Since right now in Mexico they have no respect for authority, why should they have the same respect here?

Solution.

If we simply FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION, we'd be in better shape on this issue. All of the entitlement programs that have given us generations of permapoor are unConstitutional. End them and all of the leeches will be forced to get SOME kind of job, and since so many of them didn't take their FREE education seriously, the only jobs that they qualify for are manual labor and janitorial jobs....or ones that require the worker to say "Do you want fries with that?"

That plus deportations of all illegals and fortifying the border, and voila!

oh, and Tim

The positive story you sent (2nd Amendment video) will be in this Saturday's edition of The Claw, with a hat tip for ya.

Eric

Expect to see this bill introduced again in the near future:

You’re suggesting that congress follow the constitution and support the rule of law. Quite a concept!

Thankfully the constitution is a “living document”, so Obama can change it accordingly. He did promise us change...and so far he’s been providing plenty of that.

When is the rest of America going to say enough?

relativity

your correspondent suffers Liberal Post Moderism syndrome. It's all relative to the viewpoint of the person, and no one's truth is more valid than anyone else's. And that's the bullcrap in a nutshell. No personal responsibility, no rule of law, and no integrity.

InTheNow

Fascinating exchange, and thanx for sharing this, Tim (if I may call you that). What is unfortunate is that as I read your friends response, I detected that ol' emotionalism bug (E-bug)creeping in there.

The DOI and the U.S. Constitution rely on an agreed upon sent of standards and self-regulation that seems to have given way to the E-bug.

BTW, would it be safe to assume that repeal of the Welfare Reform Act was a fancy way of saying "bribe" on the part of the Democratic Party? Just wondering.

Thanx for a great post ...

Dave

The problem with “Liberal Post Modernism”, aka moral relativism is that it provides no solid foundation for beliefs. The result is a fuzzy paradigm unable to distinguish between right and wrong, or fantasy and reality. I give you the typical liberal democrat. Easily swayed and easily bought.

AL

“…would it be safe to assume that repeal of the Welfare Reform Act was a fancy way of saying "bribe" on the part of the Democratic Party?”

I’m no political science major, but you don’t need a degree to realize blatant Macavelian politics. All the relevant data, facts, and trends indicate the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA), was significantly decreasing public dependency and increasing quality of life:

http://www.ericdigests.org/2003-4/welfare-reform.html

So if the Dems care so much about the poor, why discontinue a proven program? For what reasons? There can only be one; to increase government dependency and grow their base. It is a fact, the more people they keep in poverty, the more votes they get. Democrat support for illegal immigration is similar, although in this case, a complete demographic overhaul is the goal.

The dems are in a hurry to change the playing field and rules. I think they know they’ll never have a better opportunity.

InTheNow

Thanx for the response and link. Golly ...

good view of the consensus

opinion on illegal aliens by conservatives. Our views get distorted by the Enemedia and the Open Borders groups. We want our laws enforced. period. We want our sovereignty protected. Period. Good post ITN

Laura Ingram hosted the O’Reilly Factor Thursday the 19th. She debated an “immigration activist”, Caroline Murray about illegal immigration and the current suspension of ICE raids. The activists gave the same tired argument about how evil America exploits then criminalizes undocumented workers; completely ignoring Ingram’s questions concerning rule of law. She also lied about the efficiency of E-Verify, saying the program was “completely flawed”.

Then Laura asked, exactly what elements of the immigration enforcement do you agree with? There was a moment of stunned silence from the activist, as her neurons and synapses went into circuit overload. She had no answer. So after a few stutters, she went back to her liberal talking points, again ignoring the question. Priceless!

Here’s the interview:
