the "big tent" theory. The liberal left (media included) tent automatically includes anyone who doesn't qualify for OUR big tent - e.g., honest hard-working conservatives, christians, abortion opponents, gun owners, anti-amnesty, etc.

Maj. Hasan was undoubtedly mistreated as a taxpayer-funded medical student and his promotion to Major was a reparation for that mistreatment. Even after evidence is found that he was a terrorist-lite, he'll be forgiven by the left 'cause the debbil (G. Bush) made him do it.

It seems from what I read he has not been gruntled for a long time. (If someone becomes "disgruntled", I assume when one is happy, he is "gruntled", so I have decided to use that word. Just like someone showing mercy must be "ruthful", since lack of mercy is "ruthless".) Anyway, it seems he has not been gruntled for a while, and it has shown in bad job performance reviews, yet he was still granted the courtesy oak leaf.

I do wonder if some above him (especially in the shrink corps) thought "well, of course he is upset, he's a moslem in the army, we have to make allowances" and just passed over signs of being quite enraged.

I am very curious what will come out in the investigation of this.

Wish I had written a bit more, but my son got me up with the sun, so I am a bit worn out today.

Hasan will be awarded a Purple Heart?

Because the Muslim Major is one of their own. And the Administration will now be lucky if the US Military doesn't either start:

1. Placing all Muslims in "protected" cubby holes.

2. Having a "rash" of Muslim military personnel deaths.

3. Having combat units get rid of all Muslims.

4. Having all post and base personnel carry loaded weapons at all times.

Quite frankly, I see the start in the US Military of #1 and #2 above.

Since the war started there have been a few incidents pretty clearly tied to Islam, though in a lot of them it may be that the moslem in question was simply using Islam as a an excuse to feel aggrieved. Still, if it does serve that purpose, it is still a concern. One doesn't need to be part of a militant group to be a threat. If unstable individuals are using their belief in Islam as an excuse to kill, then that is a legitimate concern.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the wake of this. I doubt there will be any formal response, but I am curious to see the unofficial ways in which the military responds.

They gave Kerry three, so who can tell? Then again, he managed to embarrass the Windy City Messiah, so he may be in hot water for that.
