What burns my butt is to see Frank, Dodds, Obama, Schumer and Geithner on TV pointing their fingers at the 'bad guys' and once again deflecting the attention off themselves.
Whiz-Kid Geithner was the one that sat down with AIG back in November and started hammering out their deal:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/25/us/politics/25geithner.h tmlDodds can't recall how his amendments in the bail-out agreements got changed. (this makes a case for actually reading your Bills before you pass them, does it not?)
Did Obama & Co. also forget how much money AIG contributed to their campaigns, or is this just something they choose not to talk about?
ANd now admist the spittle and phlegm that flies about every time Barney Franks opens his mouth, our Leaders step thru the Barney Goo and claim the microphone to assure the American people that they will create laws to tax AIG 100% and "take our money back".
Personally, I am not sure what scares me most; the incompetence of Obama & Co., or the fact that once caught with their pants down they will retaliate unlawfully with revenge. According to the Bill that was passed and agreements with AIG, no contractual agreements for bonuses were to be made after Feb 11, 2009 while utilizing taxpayers money.
Like it or not, these 165 million in bonuses are fully within the legal rights of AIG inasmuch these are payments made to honor contractual agreements arranged last year. Now the Government is trying to find ways to nullify the legal agreements they themselves made with AIG, while also forcing AIG to breech contracts that they have made. This is just another example of how morally and legally bankrupt our Adminstration is.
