Thanks. A pleasure writing about a real American hero.

A young man from my "home town" was wounded and upon healing (still walks with a limp) returned to the service over seas. Amazing that there are some individuals who join a branch of the military with true dedicated to the USA.

I see men like Gunny Gibson everyday. And contrary to the vomitous mass that is the MSM, ALL of them wish to go back. Most can't, but they in turn find a way to serve their fellow soldiers. I thank God every day for men and women like you and Gibson, SSGT and Doc, and especially, Hubby.

You got that right amigo. The need to be a part of something "bigger" than oneself is something that liberals can never understand. It's why they hate religion and the military so much.

When I first heard these stories about amputee veterans returning to their units in combat, I was just plain awe-struck. Even the most dedicated and principled of troops would normally consider that, having endured wounds of that nature, they had done their part. And who could blame them? They had!

Yet, we now see them coming back for more. These are men to whom patriotism and loyalty are the reason they live and breathe... and they prove it with deeds. How much better would this country become if young people were told the story of REAL heroes among them... instead of the hosts of slick politicians and pop culture icons with which they are routinely deluged?

Gunny Gibson, embodies the true spirit of the Corps and what it means to be a Marine. It is men like Gibson who constantly renew my faith that the Corps, we all love so much, is in good hands.

As a former real Marine(P.I.), I take great pride in calling this man brother. Clearly he understands, as we all did, the burden of the legacy he inherited, even as he adds to that legacy for future Marines to shoulder.

Well done, Gunny Gibson!

INDEED! I send these stories home and have told my children MANY TIMES that ball players, singers, pols, etc are NOTHING compared to the veteran.

And you the h*ll of it? He probbaly is upset that he CAN'T go out on foot patrol! That he's NOT giving 100%!

He is definately a true American hero.

I don't doubt he would like to be outside of the wire, but you know he's doing the right thing.
