Where Am I?

If you find that road map home, be sure to print it here before you disappear. Or email it to me, whichever. We have defintely gone through the looking glass and down the hole.

The blatant disregard of constitutions, both state and federal, has become so brazen nowdays that it's simply incredible and amazing.

It became pretty problematic with FDR and his SCOTUS-packing scheme, and the toothpaste was out of the tube. Now no one even seems to care anymore. We're committing cultural/social suicide, chomping down on that cyanide pill, and people are cheering.

I never thought I'd live to see such a day.

I've always scoffed at those "survivalists", yet I find myself now contemplating the possibility of armed insurrection as being potentially real, with the only alternative being complete subjugation of the peeps. This is a bad, bad time.

Brian

We are definitely driking the Jim Jones Kool-Aid as a society...and smiling while we do it. This country has become so apathetic that it is truly frightening. No one blinks an eye about a Congress that flouts the supposed "supreme law of the land", because they are too busy partaking of the 'outrage du jour'; be it AIG, Chris Brown beating up Rhianna, or how many babies Nadya Suleman decided to have. All of that is a distraction from the real problems besetting us (over taxation, lawlessness from the lawmakers, printing worthless paper money to cover mounting debts), but the people are too easily distracted by whatever the media and pols tell us are what we should care about.

Flag

I've said it elsewhere but I'll repeat it here.

A direct examination of the issues currently dividing the American public can be traced directly to either our government overreaching the constitution, abortion for example, or flatly ignoring their constitutional duties as in the case of illegal aliens.

They disregard our constitution on both sides of aisle, in every administration and on the high court with a few exceptions. They are usurping the rights of the states, ignoring our defense, and destroying our economic liberty.

It's tyranny pure and simple and it must be stopped or we are all lost!

Absolutely, guys. Dig the latest!

Geithner's now asking Congress to give him the totally discretionary power to simply step in and TAKE OVER FAILING COMPANIES! At whim!

UN-FUKKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Screw the stockholders. Screw the investors. Screw bankruptcy court. Screw Due Process. Screw property rights. Screw contracts.

Screw EVERYTHING!

Just.... take them over by imperial fiat!

What the hell country am I in??????????????

Oh, yeah

Here's the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090324/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/bail out_bernanke_geithner

"Geithner seeks new powers over financial companies"

"New powers"? These powers aren't "new". Hitler and Stalin both had them.

Oh..... maybe they mean "new" in THIS country?

Ya think?

Holy Crap, Batman

Now there's change for you! Frickin' Fascism!!!

This WH and the congress are using the constitution for toilet paper. Nothing is safe from this Mussolini wannabe!

Boy Flag,

you must be a lot older than I thought, because I don't remember any such time as you describe. I've seen some movies and TV shows that appear to portray a time like that, but most of them are in black and white. And I'm not even being facetious this time.

"I never thought I'd live to see such a day."

You know, this might be a bit hyperbolic, but I've started to wonder if what we are currently witnessing is the answer to the question of how did the Nazis happen in Germany. The way everything's going, culturally, socially, the government's active role in that and of course its increasing pervasiveness in every facet of life, control of the schools, etc., lots of people, especially here, point to the communist manifesto, etc., but Hitler's book was called My Struggle, and that's a theme I find I get from the Dems and Obama.

Not saying they're Nazis or anything, although in a lot of ways the Democratic platform calls for things even the New York Times called atrocities during WWII when the Germans were doing them, but certainly there is something fascist-like and Orwellian that seems to be developing.

E-50

Send me a copy of that map as well. Our system is so frigged up now, what with the willing dumbing down of the masses by a complicit media, whose RESPONSIBILTY it is to EXPOSE this s#!t,not put it between two slices of bread, and tell us how good it is.Can you IMAGINE what the Framers of the simplest, best governing documents ANYWHERE must be thinking? "We wrote this in plain English,so as the common man can understand it,with a free press to act as guardians, and THIS is the result? God,smite this place,so they can start over in the way WE laid it out". This BLATANT attempt by the gov't has GOT to be stopped. Is there ANY "captains of industry"with the stones to call this what it is? Are they so blinded they cannot see what is about to come their way? Must be they just are beyond the point of giving a s#!t.We let this happen,we WILL deserve to have our aszes kicked by all who have gone before us.

Just for the record,

my above post was made only after reading Brian's first comment and Flag's reply, so I wasn't just echoing Brian or Sarge's references to Hitler of fascism. At least I'm relieved to know that I'm not alone in the nature of my observations.

I'm afraid

that patriotic Americans are gonna have to wake up and rise up in an armed revolution before this is over!

Hey, what good is elections doing for the country nowdays, with all the fraud, {ACORN}, etc going on, we always end up with the congress packed with scumbags?

Even when we get rid of the "old scumbags", we always end up with a new crop of them!

This friggin country is going down if we don't get back to the constitution.

Scary.

Well,

we're not in Kansas anymore. I know not to pay attention to the man behind the curtain, and that the yellow brick road ain't all it seems, but I could have sworn clicking my heels together 3 times was supposed to work. Shoes must be defective or something...

Philosoph, guys.....

.... and sorry if it looks like I'm taking over YOUR blog, Flag. Not my intent.

But... I simply cannot BELIEVE what's being proposed -- evidently seriously -- by government pogues.

I've heard these kinds of proposals before, of course, as have we all. BUT, usually by lunatic-fringe nutcase weirdos.... NOT by our elected representatives who are supposed to uphold the Constitution.

Let's even FORGET that part, like everybody else evidently has. Let's just grant them a minimum obligation of acting like elected officials who aren't supposed to HIJACK THE ENTIRE COUNTRY.

Un-fukking-believable!

Sarge: Right on! The people who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution have repeatedly broken that promise to us, and we are the poorer for it.

Brian: You beat me to it on the takeover thing, and still the media hacks pretend that this isn't socialism. Well I don't ever recall any democratic or republican country allowing the government to simply take over any company they deem to need taking over! This is a damned shame! It wouldn't be so bad if the person wanting power were competent (that would still be bad, don't get me wrong!)...but a power grab by an incompetent is truly scary. And on added note, where are all the people who screamed about Bush attempting to build an "imperial presidency" when he tried to actually use and redefine some of his war powers? We have a president attempting to grab control of the entire economic apparatus of the country...and not one peep! And having multiple posts on the topic is not taking over the blog, so no worries!

Philosph: Thise times were when I was growing up in the 1970s and 80s. Things weren't perfect by any stretch, but like I said the people cared about real crimes, we were able to see the real threats to our liberties, and we had leaders who knew that they had limitations. Now we have "leaders" who rule like Scar in "The Lion King", to wit they feel that since they have authority they can do whatever they want.

Clyde: The captains of insudtry are too afraid that Barney Frank will post their addresses in public so they can be harrassed to say anything! When the G is blackmailing you, the press is villifying you, and the country has been turned against you what can you do? You have been called evil for maiing money and painted as a liar so long that no one is willing to believe what the people who really understand the economic issues have to say.

Tazz: Do you really think an armed resistance could be pulled off? The vast majority of America is on some sort of government program (even me, with my Pell Grant for college) so the incentive isn't there to really rise against the system. The dole has done exactly what it did in ancient times, create a populace that is totally apathetic as long as the gravy train continues to roll on its biscuit wheels.

New one up at my place, man.

Kool Aid

has taken over in the Red House, excuse me, White House. Obama continues to insult foreigners, he's insulted our military, his administration keeps loosing people and others don't want to join him. His followers exhibit a zombie-like status with no thoughts at all. The media is still married to Obama and his family, following his continuing campaign and trying to keep his mess ups under the rug. Biden is kept behind closed doors for his amazingly crazy comments and tension soars between him and Obama.

This definitely is a different U.S.

Great post.

Hello

Hello, anybody out there? Where am I?

I am not sure I recognize where I am myself. As for Geithner wanting more power, oh please the guy can not even use Turbo Tax. And here is a big hint to Tim and Obama, read the TARP plan fools. There are certain "powers" that were written into it. Of course don't take any time to read it, just throw money at it and it will go away!

I remember companies that went down. I remember when my accounting teacher told me that eventually all companies go away. I thought the guy was nuts.

I remember going to restaurants and finding out when you drove up that they had closed. Companies went down or they were merged or acquired. Mergers and Acquisitions were in. I remember Barbarians at the Gate.

Now, if you are losing money, just go to the Washington ATM and it will give you money. And don't look too closely at the capitol because it is leaning so far left.

Sue and Eric

Sue: We are so far down the hole that we may never get out! The idea that businesses can't fail or shouldn't be allowed to is an abomination to our system. And as we keep going on this way, the problem will only get worse.

Eric: Thanks for the response, chief. The Obama guys and media are fools, because they cannot see what is right in front of their eyes. This guy is as red as the Kremlin, yet media hacks can't see that he's a socialist. And his followers, because they followi him with an almost religious zealotry, refuse to see or hear anything he says unless they run it through the 'Obama is Great' filter. For these people. Obamahu akbar is the catchphrase!

I, too, have that "Senior" moment.

I remember back when our country was still free.
But freedoms taken away are not even a memory in a generation or two.
Government entervention goes back to at least the first to middle part of the last century. But no one challenged the government when it legislated against automatic firearms. The Constitution does NOT say, "..the right to bear arms shall not be infringed upon. Except for automatic weapons."
I remember the great summers after WWII and the fireworks my cousin and I played with. M-80's, TNT Bombs, Cherry Bombs. All outlawed now by a government that wants to legislate intelligence. I don't remember a single friend who got hurt with firecrackers. I remember going into an Army Surplus store and seeing gun racks full of '03 Springfields, Garands and 1911 .45's in the guncase. You could purchase a Thompson .45 for $10.00. Advertised in comic books. Barrel plugged. Two pages over you could buy barrels for another $10.00. Of course $10 was 6 months savings for me.. I remember motorcycles and riding without helmets. Today even bicyclists are REQUIRED by law to wear a helmet. Seatbelts. All commonsense safety issues but NOT something the government should mandate. It's almost like they are trying to weaken the gene pool by safeguarding imbeciles and idiots on the one hand and denying sane folks the pleasures of July 4th as well as rights to self protection on the other.

buck

I feel you man. I'm only 37, but the country isn't as free for my kids as it was for me. Our society has changed in so many ways since I was a kid and much of it not for the better. Like you said abut seatbelts and helmets; they are great for safety, no doubt...but grown ups should be allowed to decide for themselves the risks they are willing to take with their own lives. The government can't run a monopoly postal service for a profit, but they think they should be able to tell us what to do!
