Sadly, here where I live they have done away with the meter, instead opting for the "One Hour Max" parking signs. The city had an auction of the meters about two years back, and although the opening bids were $5.00, the smallest winning bid was $500.00. One went for $3500!!!!!

I'm sure people snapped them up, wanting a little bit of history, and a little bit of nostalgia.
