Evangelical Christians are the soul of the Republican Party

Evangelicals...Soul of Republican Party

Great article, George! Certainly, the Evangelicals have played a major role over the years in providing the spark and enthusiasm and a strong values base to the Republican Party. Plus, they have provided many of the volunteers and a great deal of the money for Republican campaigns.

If the party acts like they are ashamed of the Evangelicals and want to push them out, the party will be defeated again as it has been with moderates Ford, Dole, and McCain. These types of candidates along with celebrity types like Governor Arnold have not worked out well. Is California really better off now, and are the Republicans proud of what has happened to this state after "moderate" leadership has been in control?

It would seem that you can't throw God out of society and politics and expect a great result. I'm not suggesting a religious run government either, but the moral issues affect the fiber of the people and the country. Immorality and lawlessness break down the stability of any society or country. Also, it is very expensive
because it creates the need for more jails, rehabs, police, social workers, food stamps, unemployment compensation, etc.

I would also add Catholic conservative Republicans, conservative Jewish Republicans, and others that agree on the social, life and values issues, as well as low taxes, small government, pro-Americans, anti-socialists, pro-strong security, pro-legal immigration, etc., as very friendly and helpful to the Republican party and to America at large.

I really hope and pray that the party of Lincoln and Reagan doesn't become the party of secularism and the middle of the road. People of America need clear choices when they vote, not Republican light or Democratic light, but people who are concerned with what is right in God's sight.

Have we learned anything from the decay of Rome, Greece, Sodom, and other societies?

Long live America and the Constitution.

God, please do bless America.

Excellent reply

When I mention Evangelical Christians, I speak more for myself. But I agree that conservative Catholics and Jewish citizens are definitely part of the solution too. I feel like they are part of the conservative "family" as well.

But Young

urban evangelical Christians are leaving the Republican party because of foreign policy and social issues. That is because they tend not to reduce the moral standing of a party or candidate to the abortion issue.
