This country would survive and prosper. We would be rid of the national debt, the welfare parasites the shirkers the loafers the marxist professors the regulators...
I wouldnt want this to happen but an act of God is just that. We would all have to cope. My Earthquake stash would get me and my family through the first few weeks. My father worked on EMP when it was first posited in the early 70"s by Edward Teller. EMP would destroy every electronic circuit in the world instantaneously. Scary stuff.

So you understand what would happen
and you're absolutely correct - fry just about anything electronic. I've got some "survival" gene in me so I have a "bugout bag," extra stash of food, etc. But my daughter and her husband (and their two kids) have NOTHING in preparation of any kind of natural disaster. Deaf ears. Thanx for stopping by, skep. I hope that the publicity that the NAS report generates will wake up some that something like this COULD happen. Be prepared.

And I was preparing for an Obama caused catastrophe. Great report Garnet. Investing in food is something that can't be touched if the dollar falls. Spare containers for water and gasoline, a generator, the list lengthens.

Wonder when the Fraudacle will try to cash in on this? Why hasn't the U. f-ing-N.set up the UN-Carrington committee? Must be they don't believe they could control it,nor drain the U.S. Treasury,or blame the U.S. for it.Good post,Garnet,I had read some about this.Indeed, you can't fool Mother Nature! Spam. When we were on Maui a couple years ago,we stopped at a Sam's Club in Kahalui, they had PALLETS of the stuff. The locals LOVE it.Fried Spam,Spam and eggs, roast Spam,Spam in the damn restaurants,I was surprised you couldn't get a McSpam at Mickey D's.You want fries with that? Mahalo.

Another Godly warning?
This stuff as a reminder to all of us is sure scary. I wonder if the hyper Obama Admin, too concerned about absolute power and destruction of our economy is ever aware of such a possibility? There have been, I am not kidding, some prophet monitors telling about such an event in 2012. Now if this is so, can you imagine what a chance that would be for an enemy who has planned for this electronic disaster, to strike the USA? Drop by my new post. Thanks.

He's been trying to bring us back into the horse and buggy days all along. Frying all of our modern-day electronics would suit him nicely since he has the market cornered on buggy whips and washboards.
Actually, I like fried Spam myself but it is a good canned meat product for emergency supplies.

rackoons, you must have missed my post
on the subject in Jan. 2009, here it is:
http://garnet92.blogtownhall.com/2009/01/14/doomsday,1,436_ days*_and_counting.thtml
It brought together a number of predictions from: the Mayans, the Hopi indians, I Ching, Nostradamus, St. Malachy, the Bible, and a NASA report of an unusual planetary alignment of the sun, moon, and earth on Dec. 21, 2012. Who knows what (if anything) will happen then? But I'm gonna buy a few more cans of Span anyway.

well, the liberal would be angry with no electricity! No hair dyers for their $700 haircuts or MSNBC to drool over Obama to watch. For us though, we'd make it through, for we have guns, and supplies! Other liberals would be happy, mostly the global warming enthusiasts. I'd guess they'd try to blame Bush for it.

You'd think that if the dems try to
blame Bush for a solar storm and EMPs that SOMEONE would begin to see a pattern, wouldn't you? But the MSM would just jump on the bandwagon and find that Bush's ignorance of everything somehow caused a vacuum on earth and drew the EMPs down.

Anyone wanna live in my cave with me? I'm hooking up my own irrigation system and indoor plumbing and my boyfriend is an expert at hunting and fishing. My cave is going to be decorated in Ikea and Target when I'm done looting.
Ok in all seriousness, I read about this a few months ago and told my parents about it. I think I may have emailed them the article. I think this is something to be genuinely concerned about and people need to get the word out.

Seasoned with more of that Pesky Truth! Aren`t you the same guy, Garnet, who posted the Mayan calendar that just happens to end in 2012?
I always get nervous when I hear pbho say "electricity grid". Everyone should be prepared for natural disasters but most aren`t. As you noted, after a few days even generators won`t function for lack of fuel. Remember the flick, "Mad Max"? Money will mean nothing but water and food will be fought for and hoarded. What will be will be, as clyde says, we can`t mess with Mother Nature! Very interesting and good post!

A Sweetheart, sounds like you're

Who knows what will happen - maybe nothing, but being somewhat prepared for any kind of natural disaster is just plain smart. Don't need a fallout shelter and supplies for 3 months (unless something really DOES happen) but just having a couple of weeks of water and canned food doesn't make you a survival kook, it's just being prepared.
We ought to have some interesting posts here come mid-December, 2012!

Guilty - that was in January, 2009
And there was only a brief mention of EMPs in that post. The concerning thing about all of these predictions is that there really is an alighment of the sun, moon, and earth on Dec. 21, 2012 - that is scientifically factual.
Remember that commercial (don't remember the sponsor?) that "it's not nice to fool Mother Nature." I really do hope that Mother Nature doesn't have a yeast infection or PMS when December 2012 comes arount.

We're prepared for the collapse of our culture either by attack or social breakdown. Weather is not in our control but have done what we can to survive for a time with no electricity, etc.
I had heard about this in the past, but never knew the origins. I will be back to access the article when I have more time to concentrate.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about a yeast infection or PMS, I would be more concerned with hot flashes -- haha

My favorite potential disaster is the gamma ray burst. These happen when a massive star collapses into a black hole, shooting an intense bean of energy out of both poles of the star. The beam is narrow and focused, so it would have to be aimed just right, but the few seconds it would last would essentially fry one side of the earth, ripping the greater portion of the atmosphere away, leaving those who hadn't been turned into crispy critters gasping for a final breath before dying.
Oh yeah, and the beam travels at the speed of light, eliminating any possibility of advance warning. One second the Earth is teeming with life, and the next it's a barren cinder. I don't know about you, but, to me, that sure beats the crap out of a lousy solar flare, or an asteroid strike anyday.
It's not likely, but it COULD happen.
Have a nice day! ;)

Miz AL, all it takes is an absence of

Damn arik, you're a barrel of laughs!
The thing about EMPs is that There was a high-level commission that studied the possible effect of EMPs on the US's infrastructure in 2004. It was a comprehensive study that forecast the effects if there was an incident sometime in the next 15 years. What was in my post is all factual based on that study - it could happen. And HAS happened before. That Carrington Event happened in 1859 when we didn't have all of our "required" electronic components controlling everything - so the effect was minimal - compared to today - if that happens again, we'll have fewer democrats and republicans to worry about.

I don't doubt that it's entirely true. I first heard about it on Art Bell, maybe 10 years ago, and did a little looking around, and found it was fairly accurate. There's also the pole shift, and the global superstorm (Made into the (awful) movie "The Day After Tomorrow."), but these are less rooted in any serious science.
The Gamma-Ray Burst, however, saw it on the History Channel. My view is there is so much out there that could snuff us all in seconds, that I'd rather pay someone else (NASA, for instance) to worry about it. It's impossible to plan for something that huge, so I just have to pray for the best.
Things I can have a say about, however, like the Obamination in Washington, that's a different story.

I can see that I'm getting off cheap. Save my seat, Garnet. I enjoyed the visit and I'll be back. Best regards, Verne aka RANT BRAZEN.
