Beacon:Over 190 polls

Fox just did a report on polls, and there are over 190 polls, many done only of viewers and with little rigor or scientific basis. The 3 most reliable polls (which I can't remember)have the race in a statistical dead heat or within 3 points. The most accurate in 2004 was one of the 3.
This leads to the question, with Obama outspending McCain 3:1 and 4:1, why is the race still so close in the top 3 polls?
