Gov Ritter Signs SB25--Homosexual Employment

Hatred Isn't Pretty
It should be illegal to discrimate agasint homosexuals. If I were a white supremist and believed the Bible told me African Americans were meant to be slaves, and didn't hire any, I would get sued and go out of business. What you do and believe in Church is your business but it is wrong to implement your beliefs in the workplace.

Who said anything about "hatred"?
Thanks for the comment.
Yours is an interesting response to a simple post. I didn’t say anything about “hating” homosexuals. I didn’t suggest they shouldn’t be given fair consideration when it comes to hiring and firing. I simply informed readers about a change to state law.
But, since you brought it up, here’s what I do think. The state of Colorado does not need another protected class. It is not the role of the state to punish a business because it disagrees with the business’ employment decisions.
Consider this certainly-imperfect analogy. Suppose you don’t wash your hands. You might say, “I was born not washing my hands, and I can’t change who I am.” I might argue, “You choose not to wash your hands.” Whatever the reason, your hands are dirty all the time. Now the business owner has to decide whether your dirty hands will affect his business. His decision to hire will depend on many factors. He might be more inclined to hire you for his ditch-digging business rather than for his restaurant. Regardless, the business owner should have the freedom to decide. If he chooses poorly, his sales will certainly suffer. Does the state of Colorado need to step in and require businesses to hire people with dirty hands?
By the way, I’m not sure why homosexual groups push for laws like this. How does establishing homosexuality as a “special class” help the cause? We constantly hear from homosexual groups that they are just like everyone else. If that is so, then why have special protections written into law? Either they are just like everyone else, or they’re not. Which is it?
