The truth of the matter is that in the UK, we have had the same racial tensions as you have had in the States.
It's like Prager says, if you compare the US against perfection then of course it falls short. But if you compare the US against the rest of the countries in the world, then it scores pretty well.
(As does the UK ... for now at least)
