Comment on: Are the Cards Stacked against Conservatives?

Gwen Ifill, I Apologize

I agree

Hey Doug,
I completely agree and was going to update mine with the same thing. She did a good job!

I wish Palin would've knocked Biden's teeth in with the facts of the cause of the current economic disaster and the fact that the Fannie/Freddie executives are Obama advisors.

Other than that, she Palin did very well!

All the best!
Jason

Ifill's comments

I said on some articles that I thought she might be ok as a moderator after I read her transcript of the 04 last VP debate. Also with all the press.

Two issues that were kind of overshadowed because OUR GIRL Gov Palin did so well.

The first was on questions that she asked specifically so Joe would have the last say so.

THe second was and I don't have the exact question but where she said something about her inexperience and his lack of discipline. Kind of interjecting her opinion a bit there.

Not totally biased, but about the best we could hope for.

Also Agree

She was very fair. Like a good umpire, didn't really notice her much.

What about the Cheney reference?

I thought the question about the Cheney interpretation of the role of the VP was slightly prejudicial...just mentioning the name of Cheney put a certain spin on that question. Anyone else think so?

Great Comments!

Very good posts!
The points about OBiden having the last word, and the inexperience/discipline question were pointed, but have been brought up even by conservative pundits. And if Ifill were being completely objective she would have specifically defined Joe's weakness as making serious gaffes as a weekly occurrence, not just a lack of discipline.

As for the Cheney question, I see your point, but Sarah fielded that well.

If you look closely at the Ifill resume in my original post though, Gwen did great in light of that. I am breathing easy and excited about the election! One thing is for sure. Many of us were screaming at the TV when Senator McCain said he was confident that Ifill would be professional. We all said, "John, you are being naive! Demand that she step down! Be tougher!" Well, he proved us all wrong. This did much to solidify my opinion of Senator McCain's judgment. I am even more confident in him after all of this. I guess that is why he is running for president and I am running an upholstery shop. :)

Doug & Amy - Kudos!

Your post shows what we all know. We conservatives do readily admit when one of ours is wrong or does something wrong. We are honest if we disagree with one of us - i.e, George Bush, John McCain, etc. It is very unusual for a leftie to admit anything that is not on their talking points. I agree that Gwen did a good job, I have no complaints.
