Outrageous About Octuplets

Perspective

I agree that socio-economic status does not dictate how many children a person should have because children are more than economics. However, when a woman is collecting welfare because she is disabled, one has to question her ability to care for her existing 7 children, let alone an additional 7. The doctors should have advised her that being on disability means she may be unable to offer adequate care to more children and that she should focus on her current children instead of having more children. If her health improves and she is no longer on disability then she can have more children because she can offer them adequate care. This advise is moral and ethical.

I was stunned to learn that she was on disability because doctor's should have taken into consideration, her ability to raise more children as a SINGLE mother while on disability.
That is my outrage - what about the quality of care for the existing and new children when their mother has disability issues?

Adequate Care

Yes, the care she provides is an important issue, but far less serious than the primary issue of tampering with God's design. If we tackle that issue, the adequate care issue is moot in this case.

Plus, the issue of welfare is one that should be addressed on its own 'merits.' We have a system that rewards irresponsibility. But that's another topic.
