Will of the People

Just look what the will

of the people got us in the last election. A whole nest of c0ck roaches
occupying our country's capitol. If politicians, their policies etc. are outside the Constitution they should be kept outside of Government. And the intellectually lazy who can't pass a test on the constitution should be kept out of the voting booth. what's more, those ingrates who don't like America should be evicted and forced to find a new "home". Cuba or Venezuala sounds good. These are my opinions and I'm sticking to 'em.

Mrs Al

The deception of our government pandering "to the Will" of the people, or blaming that "The Will" of the people is being ignored, when they do not even know what "the will" is at times....sickens me. When they have hidden agendas to enforce their will as the peoples will, the people believe it. What comes out of a persons mouth, reflects their heart and shows exactly what kind of person he is.

Great Post!!!

Bobbie

You keep sticking to ‘em, Bobbie! I identify with your frustration 100%.

As for the cockroaches occupying D.C., where’s the Orkin Man when you need him?

Thanx for commenting, Bobbie! I will be checking in at your place as soon as I can. That last post was a doozie.

Jason

Yea, “sickens me” is the prefect descriptor of what I feel, too.

What amazes me, Jason, is that so many folks don’t even know HOW to listen to what comes out of people’s mouths – especially politicians and their minions. Sad commentary, isn’t it?

Thanx for your comments and it will be interesting to see what new post you have up. I’ll get there soonly.

Mrs AL

Your instincts are very good. The will of the people is getting scary. I talk about this in my book that I really think we are becomming dumber as a nation. Hopefully Obama and his actions will get people to get their heads on straight.

Alexander Hamilton said it best

"Nothing is more common than for a free people, in times of heat and violence, to gratify momentary passions, by letting into the government, principles and precedents which afterwards prove fatal to themselves."

Although Hamilton was writing in favor of a prohibition on attainder, a concept later incorporated into the Constitution (Article I, Section 9, Clause 3), his warning would just as well apply to the 'gimme' crowds of today. He understood the "will of the people" left unfettered eventually leads to organized anarchy.

Mrs. AL --- Your Fans Respond

I have always had what I consider good (not perfect) instincts relative to political issues.
WE AGREE!

What I have lacked is the ability to express myself in what I deem an effective manner.
WE DISAGREE!

I extend my gratitude to all who have visited my blog, those whose blogs I have visited and, all whose comments I read in various threads.
WE COULD USE SOME OF YOUR SELF-EFFACING ATTITUDE!

While I have a long way to go, I will continue to learn from each of you.
AND US FROM YOU!

Best regards, and much affection. Your hosts of TL fans and pals.

Mrs. AL

Don't be so sure the "Will of the People" elected O'Vomit. Enough election fraud has been discovered to make me have some doubts as to the election results.

Also, O'Vomit made enough lies during the campaign to convince the many of the "unwashed" masses that he would govern as a moderate and not as a socialist.

Good post, Mrs. AL. There is "anger" nd "revolution" brewing all over the country.

Patrick

Could not agree more that “the will of the people is getting scary”!!

What galls me beyond words is that people in this country fail to recognize their DUTIES as Citizens in this Constitutional Republic. Good grief, freedom and liberty require self-discipline and self-initiative such that the government does not have the opportunity to take control. Whew, had to get that out of my system. See what happens when you, a published author, interacts with a blogger? (Just kidding, you know)

I will be heading over to your place as soon as I can and my thanx for stopping by.

Saltwater

Superb – “organized anarchy” is the perfect description of our condition today. Organized on the surface and anarchistic under the surface.

Thanx so much for sharing the Hamilton quote. It’s amazing to me that the founders were so accurately able to describe the mess we are in today. More proof to me that they clearly understood humanoids and their tendencies.

I will be reading your next post at my earliest convenience ) and assuming this goofy computer and satellite continue to communicate).

Verne

I am very grateful for your encouragement! As for my post script, I calls ‘em as I sees ‘em. I try to be as objective as possible.

Say, wonder what’s happening over your way … better get there and see what new rant you have going, eh? Thanx for coming by, Verne.

Gray Ghost

Agreed, the ‘will of the people’ was not represented in the election. However comma I am not unconvinced that the ‘will of the people’ is not reflected in all the legislation and judicial actions that lie outside U.S. Constitutional bounds. Maybe I am all wet, or at least damp.

Say, speaking of what’s brewing … are you going to be attending a Tea Party anywhere on the 4th of July? I think I am going to go to D.C. since it is a semi-close location for me here in VA.

Thanx for your visit and I will be seeing what’s happening in ‘your country’ as soon as I can.

Another productive head of steam

If congress was truly doing the 'will of the people' things like orderly legal immigration would be followed. People like barney frank, nacy pelocchio, dodd, durbin, would be in jail or panhandleing on street corners.

Most people would choose constitutional rights if the truth were truly told to them. Not these contradictory bills like the employee free choice act that takes away free choice. Pandering should be made a treasonous act.

Mrs Al

You're right. It's very simple really. Government's job is not to do the business of their constituents. It is not to house, it is not to clothe, it is not to feed, it is not to educate, it is not to provide care, and it is not to bend to any 'will' which may be just as easily and perhaps more accurately defined as 'whim' of the people.

Government is here to maintain freedom for individuals. That individualism demands self-regulation, personal responsibility, morality, voluntary charity, and an interest in self-maintenance.

The only purpose for government is that many individuals take that self-interest to a flawed level and frustrate identical rights of others, for their own coffers. Our national government (and many state and local governments) have tapped into this flaw in the human condition as an unending resource of guaranteed votes.

Long comment which basically reiterates and reinforces your statements. By the way, I put up a new one a few days ago, though it's not philosophical. It's more a warning.

Keep it up. Talk to your friends and family.

Mrs. Al

Maybe our government thinks the "will of the people" is a guy named Will.

Other than that they are doing there best to ignore us.

great post

MrsAL

Again, and as always, an excellent post at Our Posterity, evidenced by the outstanding comments.

I think "Our Will" was mitigated in the last election by the combination of ACORN and their fraud, and by the stay-at-homers and the protest voters. They are seeing now what the cost of forsaking the will of the people will be, and it will be expensive. Hopefully,we have learned the lesson well. "Change" is too powerful a medication for whatever ails the un-thinking, un-washed masses...

MD/MG

“Productive head of steam” – wow. I am going to use that phrase in a letter somewhere. “Contradictory bills” is another keeper, MD/MG. Gonna’ have to use that one as well with those … people … from VA in D.C. Trust that’s ok.

As for “pandering should be made a treasonous act,” I thought it was. Maybe I am all wet but pandering ultimately requires working outside the confines of the Constitution doesn’t it?

Thanx for your visit and I will be looking for you in the other blogs!

Joseph

“Whim” v “will.” Excellent distinction. I appreciate that. “Whim” more accurately describes the situation.

You said, “That individualism demands self-regulation, personal responsibility, morality, voluntary charity, and an interest in self-maintenance.” Great summation of our duties.

I will be heading your direction as soon as I can to see what warning you have for us! Thanx for popping in and commenting.

Eric

Good one, Eric – “a guy named Will” is probably at the root of all this mess, eh? And I believe you are on point that they are doing their best in D.C. to ignore us. Funny how the “will of the people” is at the mercy of the “whims” of those in power.

Thanx for your visit and I will be stopping by as soon as I can to see what’s happening at your place.

Sgt. Stryker

Could not agree more about those commenting here. That’s one of the ways I keep learning and, speaking of outstanding comments …

“Change" is too powerful a medication for whatever ails the un-thinking, un-washed masses...” Wow, medication is an angle I had not thought about! That paints quite a mental pic for me. I am going to munge on this idea for a while.

Thanx for coming by and I am look forward to seeing what new post you have going in your corner of the TH blogosphere. Will get there as soon as I can.

Mrs. Al

Government ALWAYS has been and ALWAYS will be a tightrope. One misstep and problems result:
http://www.angelfire.com/la/LAWGIVER/status1.html

"Will of the people," my arse

Doesn't "the people" include the 60 million who DIDN'T vote for D'ohbama? What Washington is following is the "Will of the Party." With both houses and the Presidency controlled by the dems, there is no consideration given to the dissent of the "minority" group - in fact, any dissent is quashed immediately. If "we the people" think that Obama, Pelosi, and Reid (oh my) are doing what it right FOR THE COUNTRY, "we" are in for a RUDE awakening. I say that full knowing that "We the Townhall" know better - it's those dolts who voted for current band of miscreants who are to blame.

well put!

as for the "cockroches' Wal-Mart sells Bengal roch spray!!I do not even begin to think that the crud that is elected has thw "will" of the people in mind--POWER and CONTROL is what they have in mind--GREAT post!!keep the fire going!

Vis-a-vis Verne's comment, Mrs. AL?

Dittos.

The people

are rising up...The TEA parties were only the biginning-The chronies who are in office are gonna get a BIG sirprise in 2010 and THEN in 2012. It is going to be a helofafight...but our LIBERTY and country is worth it.

Georgetwin

Ok, tightrope I understand and appreciate. And let’s face it, we have fallen off the tightrope and there are biiiig holes in the safety net i.e. liberty.

I will take advantage of the link you provided as soon as possible. Say, I need to head your direction as well. I better get busy here.

Thanx for your comments.

Garnet

Could not agree MORE that “We the Townhall” know better. Great thought.

As for quashing dissent, it’s getting worse than that. Did you catch the report about the Inspector General who was suddenly dismissed by this administration? Caught it on Beck yesterday. NO ONE is safe any longer. It’s getting uglier and uglier.

Thanx for your comments and visit. I will be checking to see what other pesky things you are up to soon!

Pen Captain

“Power and control” are the end goal of those … people … in D.C. Could not agree more with your assessment!

As for the Bengal roach spray, does that come in 100 gal. drums? We’re going to need it soon. Sure hope it stinks like all get out. Maybe that would help keep future vermin away?

Thanx for stopping by, commenting and I will be visiting soon to see what you have penned.

DrPete

You’re kind and I appreciate that!

Patriot 76

Welcome to Our Posterity. It’s your first visit, if memory serves. Thanx for coming by and commenting!

Yea, we are rising up and need to keep the pressure on. I am looking forward to going to D.C. on July 4th to let these … people … know what I think!

Thanx again for your visit and I will be looking for your comments in the threads!

Actually, Mrs A. L.

I would have said you present your thoughts and case rather well, and it is I who have learned much while perusing here.

Gar

Thank you kindly. I appreciate that. I must say, this time at TH has been a real blessing for me.

I will be having a look-see at your corner of the blogosphere soon to see what I can learn there as well. Thanx for coming by, Gar.

A winner

again Mrs AL--The beurocrat-bozos we have in Washington are thinking the will of the people alright--THEIR people!!The very ones who should be minding the store are guily of embezzelment.

Snow Knight

Thanx for your kindness. I appreciate it very much.

As for those … people … in D.C.. have a Q for you if you come back: is it embezzlement of which they are guilty?

One of my working hypotheses is that we have mixed business terminology with governance terminology for so long that we tend to think of D.C. in the context of a business instead of a governmental body. I could be all wet, you know!

Thanx for stopping by and your blog is in my sights. I will get there as soon as I can.

Will Of The People

Excellent blog and thread, Mrs. AL! prezbo ran on his one qualification: he can read a speech well. It got him elected present. So many of his actions and much of his agenda have succeeded to turn the nation radically to the left. The most frightening aspect is he hasn`t been in office for six months yet! What are his plans for the next three plus years? I shudder to imagine!

MRS AT

Why you're nottin but a tax dodgin speeder! I like that in a woman!!!

Once again you educate the masses. You remind us that it's our government and our will. You impose on us the responsibility that self government demands and the responsibility that comes with the power of democracy. and you incite us with the outrage we've imposed on ourselves.

Hence you cannot shake your title.

Thank you Mrs.AT

Dawn

I have to totally agree with the thread comments. These are great. My thanx for the compliment on the post as well!

Might I offer an alternative to “turn(ing) the nation radically to the left”? I would suggest that when this … person … talked about “remak(ing) America” he had in mind to erase what we know as sovereignty. As far as I can see, he is able to do a whole lot off line and I don’t think we have NEAR the entire picture what is going on behind closed doors. Just a thought.

Thanx for coming by, Dawn, and your latest is great. I will be back again soon to see what other cheeky things you have to share.

Jim

Thanx for your kind words and I know you are sincere. Maybe it is like my firearms instructor used to say – when he instructs/teaches he learns. Could be that is the case, though I perceive I am on the winning end by learning.

Gotta’ say I have considered the t*x dodging speeder route. Maybe I will give it a second look. After all, if we are supposed to follow the yellow brick road to oblivion, I might as well do what our elected and appointed officials do in D.C. Maybe then I would be considered a good little citizen and not a RWE.

Thanx for coming by and your comments. I am looking forward to your next post.

Eureka!!!!!!!

Mr. MD and I have discovered the keys to paradise. We are becoming Uighars. We mean no one harm. We trained at terrorist camps, [Door County, WI] that is a hot bed of RWE. Therefore, we should be elegible for a free ticket to Bermuda, my favorite place on earth, and paid accomodations.

Now THAT is the will of the people.

Mrs. AL

I've got to make a point of getting by here a LOT more often and sooner.

Your post defines what it is to be a republic as opposed to a democracy. While representitive it is not rule of majority over the minority. That is why we have two houses to Congress, three branches of government, fifty state legislatures, and uncountable city councils and county seats. We are, supposedly, a nation of laws conscienciously created and diligently applied, and thoughtful and informed decision making at a personal as well as governmental level. When people stop being a part of their national and local intercourse they disavow themselves of any expectation of thoughtful representation.

Teachers DO learn from their students. Thanks for that.

Glenn Flowers

MD/MG

That’s just toooo good. You analogy via the Uighars is great! Can my husband person and I join ya’ll – huh, huh can we? We will do whatever it takes to be provided for in an island paradise – not.

Thanx for coming by and giving me a laugh. I really needed that! See you ‘round the threads.

Glenn

Hey, I don’t get to your place as often as I would like so I understand. It’s hard to keep up with all the visiting we have to do, eh?

Indeed, the founders’ concept of a Republic is a key component of my thinking and how I view what’s happening to our country. I do recognize that when many folks use the word “democracy” they are thinking the same thing I am, just using a different term. Language use was my business for quite some time and I do try to define my POV, such that I am not misunderstood. Sometimes I hit, so often I miss – I keep learning!

I will be heading your direction just as soon as I can. Unfortunately, I am very busy the next few days so it may not be until early next week. Thanx for your patience!

Mrs. AL

If I may, the will of the people, to me, means majority rule. It is a very basic concept. In any given state, the will of the people is represented by the majority.

The problem lies in centralized government. You cannot possibly be elected from half way across the nation and tell me whats best for me. The Will of the People has been erroded by special interest groups and lobbiest.

William

You certainly may … thanx for stopping by and commenting. If you read Glenn’s comments of June 17, 9:30PM you will pretty much have where I am coming from. He states it better than I ever could.

Not adding to Glenn’s remarks (I don’t speak for anyone else!!), I perceive simple democracies as capable of tyrannical rule. As pointed out, decentralization and continuous checks and balances are key.

Thanx again for stopping by and I will be reading more of your posts and again, Welcome to Townhall!

Thanks for

the nice comments on my blog. You have a great blog yourself and I enjoyed it (and will becoming back occasionally) immensely. Thank you Mrs AL!

KSReaganite

And the same back to you ... Thanx so much for coming by!

Re the WILL of the people!

Excellent post and thought provoking and WE wil all continue to learn from YOU!. Despite how i feel sometimes as I look at what Libs are doing deep down I DO trust the American People to exercise their true will and to right this aberation we are stuck with for now. Remember, After the loathsome and dispicable, Hamas lovin' Isreal hating worst President up to Obama, we had the shining light on the hill, Ronald Reagan! THIS too shall pass!

Kev

Thanx so much for stopping by and your kind words. It is my ferverent hope you are right that 'this too shall pass.'

I am not able to be online as much right now given persnal circumstance, but I will be by as soon as I have time!

The Founders of Our Nation knew

better, and wisely put checks and balances into not only the structure of the government itself, but even checks on democracy, to check "the will of the people". I think they agreed with Alexis De Tocqueville, the famous French philosopher, who warned: "America will last until the populace discovers that it can vote for itself largesse out of the public treasury."

Pure democracy fails to account for the risk that 51% will vote to do nothing but live off of the other 49%. Another quote I love is this one about the 'Forgotten Man':
“They are always under the dominion of the superstition of government, and forgetting that a government produces nothing at all, they leave out of sight the first fact to be remembered in all social discussion -- that the state cannot get a cent for any man without taking it from some other man, and this latter must be a man who has produced and saved it. This latter is the Forgotten Man." - William Graham Sumner

We have a growing MORAL crisis on our hands in this nation, which includes the willingness to allow the government to 'steal' on our behalf.

It's the will of the people

The will of the people was written and expressed in those pesky little documents called State and Federal Constitutions. When politicians want to legislate the "will of the people" they'd do well to forget the latest manufactured polls and remember these words in relationship to the will of the people "so it is written, so it shall be done".

Apology to Curt

I was not notified via email that your post was placed here on July 4 and I don’t scrutinize my blog well for additions. Thanx so much for your comments of July 4.

For some time now I have been wary of the idea of “democracy.” I also agree with your conclusion “We have a growing MORAL crisis on our hands …”

Another After Shock

Superb point, “…pesky little documents called State … Constitutions” Seems like everyone forgets the ‘State” constitutions that predated the U.S. Constitution. I am so grateful you brought this up. We just don’t seem to think about these things nowadays and that is a mistake, IMHO!
