Eric. Indelible memories of good men.
Men of the this character will never pass this way again. Good Lord! Were it not so.
I have been reading the unpublished manuscript of Col. Roger Craddock of Company G, 409th Division. Before he retired as acting commander of Fort Sam, he counted almost all of these men among his friends tried and true.
Thanks for keeping their memories alive, though the air of the contemporary Americas would be poison to their souls.
Incidentally, Col. Craddock was forever honored for having recorded the fewest casualties in major flanking operations requiring the crossing of open fields under sustaoned enemy fire.
Another oddity. He was a seageant in the Texas 36th Division when they were activated in November of 1940 and trained for critical combat at Camp Bowie, TX, and the swamps of Louisiana.
Incredibly, this was one year before Pearl Harbor. Obviously having been trained for the jungles of Pacific islands, he endlessly led the same company across Europe and back.
His 30-year career hinged, however, on his innate values that permitted him to understand good men. he trained them and trained them and trained them to "fight and win" without losing their own souls. This was his description of his committment as a soldier.
Oh! Col. Craddock held no degrees. He wrote the book, however, on Cheistian soldiering Texas style.
Thanks again.

Thanks for reading and thank your father for fighting for us. You are exactly right that we have the backbone for resisting the current mess that is our administration. We'll survive this mess, but we also won't lie back and accept it without a fight.

Thanks for reading. I've read a little about Col. Roger Craddock, but did not know that he had recorded the fewest casualties in major flanking ops. Thanks for the bit of information. I'll have to look more into it. I think men like him are what made our forces so great. To bond with the person next to you, knowing they've got your back in any situation, and their love for the country they fight for, helped win battles all over the world. I have the utmost respect for these great Americans!

Thanks for reading, and yes, WW2 is one war I've studied extensively. I love history, love talking about it, and learning from it. I think our leaders lack that! I thank your father for serving in that war.

Thanks for your post and your fathers and uncles service. I agree. American's will fight this. In April, when we have tea parties all over the US, I'm sure there will be a large turnout, and many voices must be heard! The media can't hide the disappointment felt by us forever.

All those poor cold Germans wanted was Peace. But the American warmongers were thirsty for more blood to feed the Capitalist Moloch that was reaching its Globalist tentacles around the globe. Luckily the Smithsonian has set it right in its much-awarded show, "Our Misunderstood SS Friends". This presentation incorporates new thinking about the World Zionist Conspiracy and was greatly aided by the Ayotollah Khomieni School of WW2 Studies in Tehran.

Great Answer, Great Meaning
I consider myself very lucky as I have known two men who were at Bastogne (both in the 101st). Both men did both combat drops in the 101st during WW2 (D-Day and Market Garden). Both were at Bastogne. They were in different regiments with the 101st; but they were both good men. (Sadly, they are now gone.)
I know what they would say to Obama, and I don't believe I can write it on this site at TH.
However, I think we should send "raw" peanuts. But I doubt that Obama will understand the message we are sending.
PS: Eric, have you seen the movie "Battleground"? If not, you need to. If you don't cry at the very end, or at least get misty eyed, then something's wrong with you.

That said, and I hate to toss a wet blanket on citizen unrest and passion, but tea bags and nuts suffer the same fate. No substance mailed to either congress or the White House will ever get there, or even close. They'll never enter the zipcodes.
Think white powder. Then, think of another way to express the outrage.

luckily I came from a small school and town populated by mostly independents and conservatives. Few liberals taught in my school, and I had a very good history teacher. Since I never went to a large school, I've always wondered what eras of history they teach, and especially over the USSR. If what you said is actually being taught in school, than I'd rather home school my future children, or a private school where they'll learn something, rather than revisionist history. Moments such as Bastogne should be taught, the heroes who fought in that war should be known, and most of all, the constitution should be learned.

Loved his country and would not have liked what President Obama et al intends to do to this country. He would not approve of how our troops are treated and viewed by the elite. Mr Obama should consider himself blessed that he is in command of the greatest group of armed forces folks in the world but he is clueless. He should thank our military every day and twice on Sundays. We will never forget any of our veterans past and present, the free and the brave live on in our hearts forever. AMEN

IS THE NUT CRACKABLE?
Eric, Obama believes that he is our country's greatest asset, not the US military. He sees himself as having ultimate value for the future of this country and as being something greater than the army and democratic capitalist America. That is how arrogant he is. But such is the view of all revolutionary socialists who are blinded to reality by the utopian future and believe they have the final solution to all our problems and woes.
We do have a nut in the White House, Eric. But the question is, is this nut crackable? How much damage to our economy and foreign policy will it take to bring him to his senses? what will it take to shatter his mad dream of shredding the constitution, socializing America and appeasing our foes? If he turns out to be another Salvador Allende then we could have a national crisis on our hands; a crisis such like there hasn't been since the Civil War.
If Obama turns out to be an intransigent, uncrackable Allende then they'll be blood in the streets and there might be no alternative but to topple him from power. No matter the level of damage and chaos Allende's radical policies caused Chile he was determined to pursue them to the bitter end regardless of the consequences to himself, his family, his followers and friends. Allende died with a rifle in his hands defending his presidency from a military coup. Is the nut in the White House that fanatical, crazed and uncrackable? I pray that I'm wrong, but I fear that he is.

good points. I believe we can crack him, but that is if only the media and his brainwashed followers come around and start demanding he stop this his changing of America through bigger government. Unfortunately I don't see this happening in the highest level of govt., as they want to keep their power and high salaries. But like you said, we don't know if he can crack. I just hope it doesn't come to blood in the streets, but if it does, than Obama might be shaken and cracked.

Your Comment on "Stimulate This, Obama."
Thanks. It's always good to know you're not alone. When you mentioned kids, it hit me in the solar plexus. Will our grand children and great grand children ever see a giant Redwood? Will they know the scent of honeysuckle in the Spring? When will we recognize the fact that nature is the most powerful force on earth? It can be as kindly as the prolific garden in front of your house, or it can hurl your house to Kansas.
Something tells me nature is angry. "Thinking Green" will not appease the power of nature enraged.

Thank you for sharing this WWII history with us, Eric! And God bless General McAuliffe for having the nads to send the message! Right on! It was a come and get us moment. Heroism in its purist form. Your grandfather is a fine man, too! No doubt he has many more stories he can share with you because you can appreciate them now.
There have been a few debates about how much good it does to send teabags, peanuts, etc., to CONgress. They never receive them due to security, etc. Why not save the the few dollars it would take to ship the visuals to the clueless and invest it in more worthy causes? A strong conservative candidate, a food bank, the humane society. Special ice cream sundaes for the kids. I am of the mind CONgress doesn`t deserve the attention. Good post, Eric, as ususal!
