I've also heard that Jesus was born in the spring, when the lambs are usually born.

And, sadly...
...this information/truth seems foolish and ridiculous to way too many in our Nation these days. They just can't put it together - the farther we get from Christ, the worse the conditions in our Nation become.
Merry Christmas Norman. To you and your family. DD

The Christmas Story
We were just speaking about this the other night! In Mexico, December 8 is celebrated as the Dia de la Virgin de Salud (or the feast of the Immaculate Conception). There is, of course, a Mass, colorful processions, celebrations and a large Nativity market. My husband wondered how the Virgin Mary could conceive on December 8 and give birth on December 25. I have always accepted it as it has been and never doubted. Thank you for your enlightening post, Mind, though it will probably raise quite a few more questions from him!

December 25
was taken, I believe from the Roman's celebration of one of their gods, in a move by Constantine to merge Roman and Christian beliefs to appeal to the masses culturally. I'm not hung up on the date, it's the spirit that matters to me.

Shepherds didn't attend to their flock at night during spring, but I see the corrolation with the lambs.

Didn't know that about the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I can handle any question when it comes to things written in the Bible, so you can lay it on me. Thanks for the compliment.

I heard the same thing, but don't know if it's true or not. Many in this country has lost the spirit of Christmas. To many Christians, nevermind secularists, Christmas is about getting a PS3 for a present than celebrating God pouring his spirit into a human being for a way out of the predicament this creation put itself in.
