Lessons Learned Along the Way
Does Mitt Romney Really Have Bragging Rights on His Veto Record?

Wright of Center
writes:
Georgia's conclusion is?
Brenda: I think the obvious conclusion to draw from Mister Romney's record is that he continued to pursue his conservative principles in governing even though he was trying to turn around a state that has no regard for conservative policies.
As long as he was doing his job and engaging the legislative branch in trying to set correct principles in place for the people of Mass. he was doing his job.
As he vetoed legislation that came before him he no doubt knew that most of his vetoes would be overturned. That is the way it was done and that is the way provided, for the power of the governor to be balanced and checked by the
other branches of government.
Governor Romney got all done that could be expected of a man of his convictions in his term as governor. He has every reason to point out the steps that he took to turn around a mess like he inherited in Mass.
As far as what he could do in Washington with the half wits running around there, we would have to wait and see. Thank God the Supreme Court seems to be turning back to the original intent of the Constitution when judging disputes.
Also, the bully pulpit of the president allows him to present his case to the American people in explaining how he formulates policies and decisions.
I don't believe that the majority of American
citizens will line up the same way as the good folks of the commonwealth do, on social or fiscal issues.
