Not the same thing!

I currently attend Flintridge Prep, the high school that Lt. JP Blecksmith graduated from. While I never knew, him what I do know is that he was and still is a hero!
Why? Because JP was a Naval academy graduate who became a marine, determined to serve his country. Because JP celebrated his 24th birthday in Iraq and died less than two months later. Because JP was the only one killed in his platton and commanded all of his men returned home saftely. Becaue JP was awarded both the Purple Heart and the BRONZE STAR for bravery posthumously. Because JP gave up his life for this country, for you, me, and everyone else, that whether they like it or not, are Americans.
There are times to recognize heroes and this is one of them. Such bravery deserves respect and honor and while the tragedies of traffic accident fatalities are worthy of remembrance, their deaths are not those of heroes, and do not deserve the grand word "HONOR" that JP's does. I am not saying that these are not honorable people, for indeed, they most likely are, and ought to remembered for it. But deaths in result of traffic accidents do not warrant the type of respect and HONOR that one such as JP does. Please recognize the difference between a heroic soldier and a tragic accident!
