First Admendment and the Fairness Doctorine

Fairness Doctrine violates 1st Amendment

The free speech clause of the First Amendment was put in place to guarantee political speech. If the democrats want "fairness", they must include all public airwaves, not just radio. The unabashed broadcast media sellout to extreme liberal ideas is cause for demanding equal time for opposite views. Under a properly implemented "fairness" doctrine on all public airwaves, the national news media would have to give half of their news time to conservative points of view. While the press has always been dominated by partisanship, congress has set forth the idea that the public airwaves must be balanced. If they want it, let's make sure they have to have true fair and balanced reporting on all of the public airwaves.

I agree with Richard's opinion 100%.

The press is so one sided in their "news reports" that it causes problems when people believe them.

The fairness doctrine would apply to non-news programs only, just like the equal time laws where a candidate must receive equal air time when the opponent has been on a show, except if it is a news report.
