Let's Be Optimists

You GO GIRL! Great ideas! Although my

personal ideal choice for V.P. on a Romney ticket would be Condie Rice. She is brilliant, has White House and foreign policy experience (what an easy transition that would enable)--plus the obvious constituencies she would bring in as a black woman.

Love your screen name!

(Btw, my husband served his 2 year mission in Wisconsin--mostly in Rhinelander & Wausaw (I probably spelled that wrong) area.)

Thanks, Tricia

Condi would be a GREAT running mate, but I've heard that she doesn't want to run for any elected office, so she wouldn't be an option. The reason I picked the running mates that I did, for Romney, is because they're all Southern, and would help with the Southern vote. NO PRESIDENT HAS WON ELECTION IN RECENT TIMES WITHOUT THE SOUTHERN VOTE.

Another Excellent Post :)!

I AM SURE either combination of Romney/Thompson would win if The Election were held TODAY! It’s a long way till Election Day, but I feel that they appeal to a VERY BROAD cross section of Conservatives and Independents and this would lead to 55-60% of the vote and 375-425 Electoral Votes. Huckabee supports Amnesty for Illegals, which will be his Waterloo. Kay is VERY GOOD and I would have no problem with her. Duncan Hunter is EXCELLENT, but I’m not sure he brings enough votes with him to make him a viable national candidate. Read my “Paths to The Presidency” posting for my reasoning behind this position.

Read my “Polarization” posting, I basically took Evangelicals to The Woodshed for threatening to go in the tank unless they got what they wanted. However, some folks took it that I was selling out To Rudy. There are QUITE A FEW lively posts on that blog :)! Keep up the good work!

I know Condi wants to be Football Commis

sioner (President of the NFL or whatever it is--you can tell I'm ignorant about the sport).

But, I believe her to be enough of a patriot to be prevailed upon for this other kind of "draft." After a few years, if the football commissioner position came open, the Pres. could select another V.P. (presuming Condi still did not want to stay in the White House).

Condi being drafted

OK. If she could be "drafted" into service as Romney's runningmate -- maybe -- she IS from the South originally. But I have a feeling that her loyalty is to GWB, not just to any Republican president, but I could be wrong.

Well

I have to say I absolutely disagree with you on your assessment of Giuliani, who is actually running in the wrong party -- he'd make a decent Dem candidate, but is a horrible GOP candidate.

I won't go into all the reasons here, but please feel free to stop by my blog and scroll down 2 or 3 essays to "Revisiting RINO Rudy" for my synopsis.

I DO agree that Hillary is virtually self-defeating -- unless the GOP nominates Giuliani. He won't get any support from any of the conservative factions: gun owners, right-to-lifers, evangelists, Religious right, fiscal conservatives. These are all essential elemants for a GOP victory.

Incidentally, I do the same as you: refuse to call the Democrat party the DemocratIC party. "Democrat" is a proper noun; "democratic" is an adjective. The Republican party is just as "democratic" as the Democrats.

Thanks for visiting, and I know from reading your blogs and posts for many months now (not commenting very much because the article comments seem to frequently devolve into arguments between posters), that you regard Rudy as "bald Hillary". I agree that Amnesty, gun control, abortion, are ALL issues that Rudy is wrong about, but he's NOT A SOCIALIST, and Hillary IS. This is why I DON'T want to vote for him in the primary, BUT IF HE GETS THE NOD, I WILL VOTE FOR HIM IN A GENERAL ELECTION. At that point, I WILL vote for the lesser of 2 evils, because she IS EVIL. (and I even have a theory that her husband is a devil, or has made a pact with the Devil -- I know that sounds far fetched, but the man has gotten away with rape, murder (or conspiracy to committ murder)lying under oath, AND THE LEFT STILL LOVES HIM).

Anyway, Hillary is complicit in all of his wrong doing, because her mentor, Saul Alinsky, had as one of his greatest theories -- the end justifies the means -- and the end is HILLARY IN POWER, BY ANY MEANS. The woman is NOT a good candidate for President, and we Conservatives HAVE to come together during the Primary season, and get behind the nominee -- whoever that is -- even if it's Rudy. Let's not cut off our nose again (Ross Perot comes to mind -- who I mistakenly voted for in 1992, only to have Bubba win).

I know the Media WANTS Rudy to be the candidate, but I think they're going to be surprised AGAIN, when Mitt Romney gets the nomination. I truly believe his early-state strategy is a winning one, and the other states will follow after he wins the first 3.

By the way, I'm NOT a Mormon either, I'm one of those "Evangelicals" that the media has classified, but I don't see Mitt's Mormon faith as a problem. I'm not electing a pastor or a pope. I'm voting for a President -- a SECULAR office.

More of my 2 cents.

BTW, BrianR --

Read your comments and saw your pictures of the CA fires. I'm glad you're safe, even though I think you're a little crazy for not evacuating.

Take care, and BE SAFE!

i'll take Thompson and Huckabee...

...or Duncan Hunter. The more that I hear about Hunter, the more impressed I am by him. I am not sold on Romney as he seems to be a bit of an ooportunist to me---too many policy changes in too short a time period. As for Rudy, i wouldn't want him anywhere near Justice. Yeah, he made his bones taking on the mob but that doesn't erase the fact that he thinks that the Second Amendment is open to interpretation by the states, or that he allowed NYC to become a sanctuary city. Those two things alone should give all conservatives pause in throwing our support to him; what other rights does he think are negotiable?

Flagwaver

You have a point there about Rudy and sanctuary cities, and the 2nd amendment, but I think Rudy could be an asset to the next Republican President...maybe not in Justice.

As for Mitt Romney, I think he should get a 2nd look from you, because it sounds like your opinion of him has been shaped by his bad press. He's not nearly the opportunist that he's portrayed as, in my opinion, and Hunter is GREAT, but won't get the nomination. Romney is Conservative on most issues, and would be an EXCELLENT fiscal Conservative choice.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my new blog. I appreciate your thoughtful arguements.

Thanks, Mom!

Man, at my age I don't get to say that much anymore.....

We Can Be Optimistic If

WE can convince enough people the lies and deceit the slipstream media and the rest of the left are using to take control of America, which would be the death of anyone wanting to be free. Considering the result of the left running America does make me sick to my stomach, though.

Thanks for your comment on my blog...

The new book "Whitewash" by Brent Bozell is the next political book I want to read. Also the book "Hell to Pay" by the late Barbara Olsen, whose plane was crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. If this book says what I think it does, the woman was nothing short of a modern political martyred prophet...considering she wrote it in 2000.

It is good to try to get the word out to the masses about Hillary and the way the media has covered for her and her Socialism throughout the years -- but don't get mired in the negativity of it. It will eat you alive, and bring you down. You're already having a queazy stomach about it. It's not enough to be AGAINST a cause -- Hillary -- you must also use positive energy to be FOR a cause -- that would be Conservatism, support for our troops, support for our country's traditional American values and such. Getting behind groups like this can bring positive energy to the RIGHT side of the political spectrum, and keep us optimistic.
