I don't know if you stumbled across my writing on the way our worship of youth has led to the collapse of standards, but I think your analogy fits that perfectly.

My argument is basically that in the past youth rebelled, sowed their oats, then assumed adult roles, and the old standards were preserved. generation after generation, youths rebelled against the same rules.

Now we worship youth, and supposed adults adopt the standards of the youth as their own. So when the youth rebel, the adults follow their lead, meaning the rules against which the next generation rebels is more lax, making their behavior ever more extreme.

By the way, didn't mean to come here and plug my own blog, just happened that the first article I saw fit so well with something I had written.

I have to read some more of your posts, but from the first post, I am enjoying your blog. As you have posted so many thoughtful comments on my blog, I figured I should see what you had written on your own.

The Left's favorite argument for giving kids condoms, birth control whatever is that the "kids will do it anyway, they might as well be safe."

But we have a whole history of not offering birth control, teaching abstinence until marriage, and kids not "doing it anyway."

This is just another example of the backwards thinking of the Left. They have an amnesia of convience and they'll throw any inconvient truth down the memory hole.

A couple of teenagers just published a book called "Do Hard Things: A Rebellion Against Low Expectations" They argue that today's teenagers want to be challanged and want to be expected to live up to high standards, it means that we believe in them. I get so tired of listening to this "feely-touchy", "feel-good" cr*p. If it's wrong, IT'S WRONG.

And I intend on saying so. And it has made me more enemies than I can count. (This does not mean that I go out looking for trouble. But what this means is, if I am offered a bribe, I tell them no and tell them why I said no. I don't "beat around the bush".)

I'm actually a member of PETA, South/Central Texas Chapter. We're aliitle different than the national org tho. We hunt, fish, wear fur, ect. I encourage every thinking, compassionate person out there to consider joining up. Again that's PETA...People For The Eatn Of Tasty Animals.
