Jesus & the will of God...

I appreciated your comment on Colson's article, but questioned what you meant in the following quote. Would you explain?

'So, how is it that voting is like praying? If you pray for something and God says "no" does it violate the will of God? If it does then Jesus violated the will of God.'

Jesus & the will of God...

The point I am trying to make is that some people are afraid to vote because they think if they vote for the wrong person then they have gone againts the will of God.

I am drawing a comparison between voting and praying and making the point that when a person prays they may pray for something that goes againts the will of God, but that doesn't stop them from praying, why because God can say no, if it's againts His will.

To illustrate the point I made the reference to the fact that Jesus prayed three times, "let this cup pass from me..." but God's will was that it not. It didn't violate God's will for Him to ask.

The application of the principle we can learn from that example is we have the freewill to do what we think is best when we pray or vote and God has the sovereign power to direct the final outcome of our prayers or an election.

Hope that answers you question, thanks for asking. D.Hope
