Just Win in Iraq

some time ago i put forth the theory that we went in to Iraq for an unpublished and unpublishable reason.

if you know the history of Afghanistan, you know that no outside army has ever been able to fight there. we also know, in part from the Russian experience, that wars in Arab countries draw out terrorists.

knowing this, is it possible that part of the reason for going into Iraq was to fight terrorist in a place more favorable to our way of fighting?

my brother has been to Afghanistan twice. he said that you can only fight there for a few months out of the year. for the whole long winter, the bad guys disappear into the mountains. they regroup, rearm, and come back for more in the spring. they have safe haven with mountain tribes and can cross the border into Pakistan.

i think there were many valid reasons for going into Iraq. among them might have been the fact that we could legally go to war there and hopefully draw the jihadist out of the mountains of Afghanistan and into Iraq.
