EPA CONFIRMS CLAIMS OF SCIENCE BEING IGNORED

EPA confirms claims of Science

I have read the Carlin report and found it does not deserve to be called science. First, its using available web sites that detect plagiarism, its easy to document that Carlin lifted whole sections from other blogs without attribution. Second, all his major points (except one) rely on unpublished, non peer reviewed blog submissions. While useful information can be obtained here, we cannot allow government agencies to use science that is not published in the academic literature. One can always find a blog that agrees with your position. It is peer review that culls out the the bad science from the good. Finally, Carlin clearly does not understand the difference between climate and weather. Weather patterns are affected by a large number of variables and these account for the natural variability we expereince in temperature. Climate refers to the weather we experience over a much longer period of time. To say that we have experienced cooling since 1998 is just silly. 1998 was the hottest year on record and the natural variability (caused for example by La Nina) can easily account for the temperature changes since then. Others have posted more detailed critiques elsewhere, but one can see why this report was not forwarded. Plagiarized from blogs, based on non peer reviewed reports, and frankly not able to withstand scientific scrutiny. I would be disappointed if EPA did include this.
