Comment on: HAVE PRINCIPLES, SAVE THE PARTY

Why Does Gay Marriage Confuse Republicans

Sex and Marriage are NOT issues

Regardless of how you would want to define it legalistically, marriage is a state sanctioned and recognized religious rite steeped in millennia of dogma. It is nothing more than a consensual, contractual agreement between persons to live together and presumedly have sex together. And whether those sexual activities are homo- or hetero- habits or polyamorous or polygynous practices, it's none of our business, as long as they don't do it in the public square, so to speak and as long as it falls into the realm of consensual conduct.

Buzz

That's a good libertarian argument, but it really isn't the point. We have a system of federalism, whether you like it or not, and the place for your argument to be advanced is at the state level. The point of my blog entry is that it is wholly inconsistent with conservative principles to propose federalizing marriage law.

Buzz, go read the Madison Notes

You really come across as an imbecile if you just say, "It's none of your business."

Sorry to inform you, but just about ANYTHING is my business at the State level, buckaroo. Read the 10th Amendment. It is not the States that are out of line, it is the Judiciary.

Judicial Review is a self-awarded power--not exactly in line with the idea of our Constitution. And what's worse, today's version of Judicial Review is actually a misapplication of an interpretation of an interpretation, all of which were wrong.

Keep coming back to my blog and I'll discuss it more--won't take up all of JJones' bandwidth here.
