Sometimes You Feel Like a Roo
I think I'm beginning to understand how the other white meat feels. The other day I was in the store and I had left my grocery bags at home. Since Portland is threatening to charge 20 cents per plastic grocery bag to keep in step with Seattle's bag tax I figure it's just a matter of time until it reaches a market near me. I told the checker I'd forgotten my bags and he said, "just wait until it costs you - you won't keep forgetting the bags then!"
I thought about that on the way home. They want to tax me so I will be forced to behave in a certain way. Kind of like cigarettes isn't it? They are taking perfectly legal behavior and taxing you and me into submission. Did you see that in the roo article? They will charge the farmers for their evil animal burps until they force them into the wonderful world of roo ranching!!!! Didn't we have a war with King George over tea dumping privileges? He should have just used carbon offsets......
And Wil, can you imagine the fences farmers would need to keep these guys in (or out)? Isn't that a kick in the head?
