Mitt Romney, Mormons, and One Martyr

Romney as a Mormon President

Mitt Romney is a member of a cult that is not Christian. If he can be deceived by their teachings, what other deceptions could he be prone to as President?

Brad, do you have any idea

who decided the Mormon, Mitt Romney, was a member of a cult? Do you realise his faith in The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit is the same as ALL Christians in the world? Brad, Mitt Romney is not deceived...you are the deceived...NOT by satan I pray.

False Premise

The author of this blog presents us with a false premise that evangelicals ought not to eschew voting for Romney because Tyndale advocated religious freedom.

Susan takes the real religious freedom aspect available to Americans (the freedom to reject Mitt based on his religion) and turns it around to mean the opposite.

The issue is about political freedom to use religion as a measure of a man.

To exclude religion from the list of items one considers when voting for a candidate has no basis in logic or reasoning.

Voting against Romney because one cannot tolerate the underpinnings (his religion) of his ethics and conduct is political freedom AND relgious freedom. It is to be celebrated, not condemned.

If anyone can willy-nilly charge others with intolerance because they exercise their political and religious freedoms then these accusers ought to be prepared to be called intolerant themsleves.

Intolerance won't necessarily apply to people who will not vote for Mitt because of his religion, but it certainly does apply to those who don't think they a moral cause to do so.

Not voting for Mitt because of his religion is a political freedom. And to condemn others for excercising it appears to be the very definition of intolerance.

Dark Matter - Re: Article VI

Please read this clause from Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution:

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." - http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_A6.html

Susan

I already know what the Constitution says. And again, you take the texts and quotes of others and twist their meaning. This is starting to catch up with you as you are painting yourself into a corner that will only leave you frustrated and angry.

The Constitution FORBIDS an official government test to be required of candidates. My choice is the voting booth is not an official government test. There are no such government tests in Federal presidential elections, so you may go in peaces on this Thanksgiving dary.

As since there IS no official government test, and your interpretation of the Constitution is incorrect, this then leaves free people (like me) the reserved right to use whatsoever criteria we desire for making our decisions, INCLUDING religion.

The religious test clause refers to restrictions on government, not on me or anyone else in the privacy of the voting booth.

Christianity and the Constitution leaves all free and righteous to vote against a candidate because of their religion.

Dark Matter - Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks for your comment.

You wrote: "And again, you take the texts and quotes of others and twist their meaning. This is starting to catch up with you as you are painting yourself into a corner that will only leave you frustrated and angry."

I do not believe that I twist the meaning of any texts and quotes, nor am I in any danger whatsoever of painting myself in a corner. Neither am I frustrated or angry. I am completely confident in the quality and clarity of my posts.

You seem to be the one who is frustrated and angry. You are the one that chooses to post your negative comments on my blog. I never asked you to post them - this is your choice.

I am sorry that you seem to have a completely incorrect interpretation of my writings. Nevertheless, I hope you are having a very happy Thanksgiving today, and I mean this in all sincerity. Please try to be grateful about something.

Susan

You have smeared evangelicals, all by yourself, right out in the open for all to see here at your blog. This is an interesting little world of yours where you smear others then act like you cannot tolerate the heat of the fire you lit.

You pop people in the nose then complain about what happens in response? You never responded to my post that suggests your interpretation of the Constitution is patently absurd.

The Constitution reads:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE UNITED STATES, shall be the supreme Law of the Land...Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

That says that government is forbidden to create a religious test. It does not apply to individuals except to protect them from the GOVERNEMENT doing it. It doesn't apply to ME in the voting booth. You say it does. That is absurd. You blew it and you should be grown-up enough to admit it.

Dark Matter - Re: Article 6

I am sorry, but you obviously do not comprehend the meaning of Article 6. It explicitly states that any individual that chooses to run for any U.S. office shall not be put to any kind of a religious test in order to be qualified to run for that position.

You wrote: "It does not apply to individuals except to protect them from the GOVERNEMENT doing it." Your interpretation makes absolutely no sense to me at all!!!

Your accusation that I am complaining is equally ridiculous, as you are the one who is constantly complaining by posting your negative comments on my blog.

I no longer have the time to debate you on this issue, and I would also suggest that you change your user name. "Dark Matter" sounds like someone who is the exact opposite of an evangelical Christian.

Susan, Why Defend Mormonism?

It is a fraudulent religion built upon the lies of an egomaniac.

Mitt must be judged in part by his adherence to this phony faith.

How can any rational person be Mormon?

Well done Dark Matter

It is easy to see that Susan is not a Constitutional scholar. If Mitt was a Muslim who believed Mohammed (instead of Joseph Smith) is a "True" prophet from God, and believed his Koran (instead of the Book of Mormon) was inspired by God, would Susan condemn Christians who would reject a Muslim for President?

I don't think she would. So why is she making these silly arguments for Mormons?

reply

The more you make his religion an issue the more this alienates him from voters. It has become a "poor me, I am a Mormon so don't pick on me" mantra.
I would not vote for him because of his "recent" shifts that are not really shifts, on abortion.
Question: Do Mormons support pro-life or are they for abortion?
If they are pro-life then how did Mitt spend all those years as gov. as a pro-choice candidate? Wouldn't the Mormon church ex-communicate him?

Open Minded or Empty Headed?

Wordsmith
Tolerance?
The fact is, Mormons totally reject all Christian denominations as heretical. They believe the Book of Mormons is necessary to restore truth and end the heresy of the Christian Church.

"In this vision God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith. The Savior told Joseph not to join any of the churches, for they “were all wrong.” The Savior stated, “They draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof” ( Joseph Smith—History 1:19).

"Although many good people believed in Christ and tried to understand and teach His gospel, they did not have the fulness of truth or the priesthood authority to baptize and perform other SAVING ordinances."(from mormon.org, an official Mormon website).

While they believe many people may be "good", they do not believe anyone can be saved except, (amongst other things), they recieve the laying on of hands BY ONE OF THEIR APOSTLES(preisthood authority) IN THE MORMON CHURCH. NO CATHOLIC, NO LUTHERAN, NO EVANGELICAL, NO METHODIST! NON CAN BE SAVED APART FROM THE MORMON CHURCH and it's rites. That is their official teaching. There may be some who dont understand their own official teachings, who may talk otherwise, but they are wrong.

Of course, that doesnt even touch on the Book of Mormons, which was writen by a Presbyterian Minister as a NOVEL(with a different title) and rejected by the publisher as being so obsurd he refused to publish it. The publisher later gave it to Joseph Smith.

The more bizaare a thing is that someone believes, the more concerned one will tend to be about that persons judgement. If you ever give Mormonism or Joseph Smith serious scrutiny, you will find them both very bizaare.
