Prop 8 isn't the last chance to preserve marriage. In fact it isn't even the best way. We need to stop same-sex conception with a federal law limiting conception of people to joining a man and a woman's unmodified gametes, and at the same time affirm that all marriages in every state give the couple the right to conceive together, using their own genes.

If we did that, CA and MA would both have to change their same-sex marriages to civil unions, and it wouldn't matter how marriage is "defined" in their state constitutions.
