Yes, I think a shift back to mormalcy would do us all a little good. From a developmental standpoint, children at young ages do not grasp abstract concepts well. I am pretty sure that it isn't until they become a little older do they even understand the idea of love, true responsibility of actions etc. It is true that they will say, "I love you" blah blah blah, but they are cognitively disadvantaged at this point. So, really I am sure they are just confused...As most children are. However, I do think that it is important as they get older for them to challenge ideas and concepts as a means to start the critical thought process.
