Poems from Guantanamo II

Yes, reserve a copy for me!

You are amazing, Kilroy.

BTW, on Fox News a commentator made the mistake of calling Obama, Osama. I guess that's why the MSM has resorted to calling Osama, UUsama!

Hahahahaha, Kilroy

Great column!

Plus, I learned that Islamo-fascists know Haiku!

Who'da thunk it?

please reserve MY copy

pure, well, poetry!

Bravo!

I'm snapping my fingers in between key clicks. Poetry is, you know, so existential....another bright spot to my day, thanks Kilroy.

If I order now..

..is the shipping free?

I'm thinking this book may not be available on amazon.com.....maybe sahara.com?

Thanks folks!

I've always thought poems should rhyme but the Haiku is growing on me. I especially like the "dung" one.

These poor souls deserve our support! What, you can't cough up a few bucks for shipping, Jimmy? You have to be careful with what gets shipped out of Gitmo. You could end up with a few house guests.

LOL

Brand-spanking new essay up at the Island. I know y'all can hardly wait to get there.

No haiku in it, though, be forewarned.

New Island essay
Freedom in the balance
no crickets chirp

Southern Review of "Poems ......."

I laughed, I cried, I kissed twenty bucks good-bye.

(Kilroy I am IMPRESSED! Great satire! Keep up the good work.)

I really think this would sell!

I loved your haikus on the other blog, too (was it on BrianR's?)

Seriously, you've got some talent! Very funny.

I laughed at the original Poems Fom Guantanamo, too, but I don't think I was supposed to. (Oh poor me, I'm locked up for cavorting with terrorists and likely being one, but I'll pretend to have a heart and make the world cry for me.)

Yup, Squiddy

It was at my place.

I am honored, for the effort and creativity.

GG, Squiddy, Brian

Thanks for dropping by, GG! The door is always open even if the punchlines are stale.

Squiddy, When I publish, I'll be sure your endorsement is included on the dust cover. Is that "Perky" with a "K" or "Perty" with a "T"?
But I guess Pert and Perky can mean the same thing.

Brian, The honor to publish at one of the most prolific commenters blog is all mine. Just happy to be able to squeeze a word in edgewise.

Kilroy

Longfellow is green with envy,as is Frost,Kipling,et al! Excellent!

clyde, Doc

clyde - Glad you popped in!

Doc - Looks like we have our first entry for PFG III! You wouldn't mind doing the illustrations too, would you?

I think I got a couple

wooden shekels laying around somewhere.

As to your compensation, I propose a 50-50 partnership and will gladly hand over half of all my revenues. Yep, that's REVENUES, not even profits. Can't get a better deal than that!

And ummm free health care. Not performed by any kind of trained medical professional mind you, but free!

For my readers:

A representative of contributor Adnan Amous has informed me that I mistranslated his Haiku. My apologies to Mr. Amous. The corrected translation now appears in the text.

Frankly, this version better conveys the hardships faced by those suffering in Gitmo.

There once was a blogger named Steech

"All Haiku's suck", he'd preach
"A poem must rhyme"
said that philistine
whose idea of great acting was "Screech".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saved_by_the_Bell#Samuel_.22Screech.22_Powers

Now you've done it Steech

you've summoned Poems of Mass Distruction!

Kilroy's talent is deft

leaving Steech looking bereft.
As Snagglepuss would say
before clearing the way:
"Heavens To Murgatroid, exit stage left."

Jimmy Carter

Had the thirty ninth
Hailed from the State of Texas
Bunnies would fear him

We frequent The Outback in Hunt Valley. Care to join us sometime?

Outback --

One of my favorite haunts for red meat!

Kilroy

AMEN! The wife & I like to go there late in the evening on the weekend. If you would care to join us, go to my blog and click on my personal Email and drop me a line!

KILROY!!!

If you don't come up with something about the Barry Manilow deal, I'll be severely disappointed!

I've intentionally avoided it Manilow

What with Wham! and Hall and Oates I didn't want to fall into a groove. I was thinking I'm due for some Doors or Hendrix since that's what is cranking in my CD player at the moment.

Although, the voices in my head this morning were singing the beginnings of:

"Her name was Oprah, Oprah Obama"

(to the tune of Copa Cobana)

We'll see what the voices come up with. Might have to tweak my "meds".

LOL

even your outtakes are great. I'm doing a post on him.

"must obey the voices"

"must obey the voices, must obey, must obey, obey, obey, obe........."

heading over, dave.

Doc S, Jimmy, Kilroy,

Hey, love all the silly poetry! More fulfilling than Maya Angelou any day.

Kilroy -- it's perKy... from an old Julian Cope song called 'Jellypop Perky Jean'. I'm rarely original. But I know good Britpop.

Doc - three things

Embrace the Haiku
Butt scratching feels good, and stop
Calling me Shirley

A New Posting at my blog! Don’t forget to vote in Liberal Looney name contest. Her name is Karen Battiest, should she change her first name to Ding or Moon?
