But if Palin brought the base home to McCain, and he still lost by seven million votes, wouldn't one logical conclusion be that simply pandering to the base by selecting such an unqualified, though assuredly conservative, vice-president left McCain with few options to appeal to moderate republicans who could have helped him win North Carolina, Viriginia, Ohio and any number of other states.
