Raising the Minimum Wage

The same thing is happening in Chicago. Not for all business though. Just big box stores. The city will not have very many of these very poplar stores just because this stupid law. A big job killer for the people who need them the most!

I agree that raising minimum wage will do more harm than good. Even though this raise would increase my salary, as I am a part-time worker and full-time student, I don't think it's a smart idea. Many employees in small businesses could lose hours and even their jobs if the employer could not afford the increase, therefore reversing the desired affect of a minimum wage increase. Many of those, who would benefit from the increase, are working in these smaller businesses. Also with the increase in miminum wage comes an increase in the cost of living; again reversing the desired affect. Instead of raising the minimum wage to help those "single mothers" and others struggling financially, how about giving them opportunities to help themselves. Personally, I would benefit more from lowered gas prices and tuition costs than a $2.00 increase in minimun wage!
