I've heard talk of direct payments of the 'stimulus package' going directly to the consumer before. It's such a simple idea that has little downside for the consumer and would do much, much more to stimulate a consumer-driven economy (such as ours) than their current 'plan'.

Now why would the (now liberal) government elect to spend our billions on failed businesses instead of spending our billions on us?
