This is exactly what I predicted when I opposed McLiberal so strongly during the election. It's absolutely essential that these disastrous policies be wholly owned by self-admitted liberals, not by libs hiding as GOPers like McAmnesty and Ah-nuld do.
This miserable lesson has to driven home clearly and unequivocably, plain to see for even the densest voter out there in the cheap nosebleed seats: that liberalism simply can't work, REGARDLESS of the party label stuck behind a political hack's name.
Had McLib won, the lesson still wouldn't be clear, because we'd have a lot of the same policies -- maybe slightly watered down -- being supported by him as Prez (don't forget, he "suspended" his campaign to skydive into DC to "save" the original "bailout", and has said overall he thinks Obambi's doing a good job), and the Dems in Congress would be pointing to him as their "beard". Net result: no change in advancing real Reaganesque conservatism.
To use your Fort McHenry analogy, it would be as if the Brits had a team of sappers inside the walls of the fort. Gotta kill them first in order for your defense to succeed.

You were right as USUAL ;)! Right now America is like an average guy who is dating a model that is a cokehead. He is enamored of her STYLE and OVERLOOKS her SUBSTANCE (abuse?). At some point, the baggage makes the relationship untenable and the average guy TURNS ON HER, drops her like a hot potato and recognizes her for what she is. America WILL reach that point SOON!

The last book I read was "Rules For Radicals" by Saul Alinsky. I figured I should read it. Very eye opening. I just wrote two blogs that dealt with reading this book and where Obama is going. Each part should be read. I looked into Alinsky before, but until I actually read his book, studied Obama, and asked a few honest questions to myself I really didn't know what Obama's end game was. It's not about socialism. It's about him personally accumulating power. Socialism is just the unavoidable tool he's using. Even his allies have no idea what he really is up to.

It's been a long time since I read about Ft. McHenry. Your review was well done and very interesting. Your analytical comparison to the present circumstances of the GOP is quite sound and if the party remains viable it will go a long way toward winning down the line.

A very good literary, cultural analysis for us all. Thank you. I too read and teach and preach on many of these same issues. Do you not wonder where , why and how the 'yutes' of America have been so brainwashed, so really riven with doubts, fears, hatred and apathy and amorality toward standards not only from the Judeo-Christian worldview, but from our own history, Consti. and heritage? I do and write about that but it apparently falls on so many deaf ears as the Left marches on like lemmings going over the hill to destruction. Been to Ft. McHenry and like you so many other historical areas and pray my grandkids will even have them left or will they be replaced with retraining centers by ACORN??? LOL Drop by.

I read CONSTANTLY and usually 2 or 3 books at a time. Ann Coulter’s books are EXCELLENT! Her secret is she CARPET BOMBS you with facts and tosses in her acidic wit from time to time. Try reading JUST 1 PAGE from her book and SKIP over her witticisms. With her wit, her books are as DRY as a Baptist Picnic.
Newt is smart, patriotic and DEFINITELY conservative. I have reservations about him due to his background in academics. Academics USUALLY don’t make very good leaders. Textbooks and lectures CANNOT teach you about the “X” factor and this where academics USUALLY get derailed. I could be wrong about him, but I ALWAYS go with the Law of Averages. Newt would be an EXCELLENT Cabinet Secretary, especially Treasury, but like I said, I have my reservations about him as a leader.

The GREAT Cavalry Commanders (Attila, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan) probed/maneuvered enemy forces into a position where a weakness in their line was detected. Then they hit them RIGHT THERE! In the latter day, The 1992 Cowboys looked for a weak spot in the defensive line of their opponent. Then they SMASHED into the weak spot with Nate Newton (6’3” 320 pounds), Kevin Gogan (6’7” 315 pounds, Mark Tuinei (6’5” 310 pounds), Erik Williams (6’6” 320 pounds) and Mark Stepnosky (6’2” 270 pounds). Ann Coulter’s books and Revolts
I have all but her last one and it is on my list after I get Mark Levine's newest on Tyranny.
Using a movie metaphor, 'the zips are in the wire...'and we have to watch our tax exposure. This is going to get worse before it gets better as the history of liberalism from that drone Wilson to the Cigar Diddler is littered with failure. Gold is soaring and it looks like the major predictor of a weak currency now and massive inflation soon.
I favor a revolt where we study where to allocate our purchasing and investing funds and steer all of them away from the left as far a possible. We can NEVER buy a GM or Chrysler car ever again. We must help make these outrageous government entities crash whenever we can. Don't bank with one of the top 19 banks as they are Zombies. Stay away from anything 'green.'
We can document the sordid and phony promises from O'Bozo and his collection of cockroaches and then complain everywhere when something goes wrong.
Blame O'Bozo for everything that happens as this is on 'his watch.'

Your supermodel analogy...yeah, we're gettin' some, but sooner or later we'll figger out that what we're gettin' ain't worth what we're putting up with.
Battles BC and Warriors...both great series! Battles BC even spun off for a special of Battles of the Bible.
Ft McHenry...been there meself. Good history lesson for all to learn.
Leaders in the open...Yes, there's P-Lousy, but even knocking her down somewhat doesn't get us much. We cannot defeat her in Than Franthithco, and Steny Hoyer would replace her if she stumbled too much as Speaker. We can't knock out The Golden Child until 2012. On the other hand, there is Dingy Harry Reid, who IS up for re-election in 2010 and can be defeated.

I'm not sure that leaving whole regions out of any retaking of the culture and the government is a good idea. The War Of 1812 wasnt total war. Everyone knew that a negotiated settlement like the Treaty Of Paris would be the result. The Kulturkampf going on in this country is total war. The Dems know it and are active in every state. The coming disaster that the implementation of Compassion and Empathy will cause will cause people who right now wouldnt thinking of voting for the insipid Republiclowns right now to consider a REAL alternative. We are in the position of the revolutionaries who envisioned making this country a socialist society a century ago. We have a long, hard road to travel but we can only win by taking the war to the enemy in their own bailiwicks.

We need to pick up the ball and run with it. A lot of these things happen because we (republicans) give up with out a fight.

Another analogy that works is the Psyche Job that Robert E. Lee did on George McClelland. Lee had McClelland SCARED TO DEATH that he was facing a HUGE force and kept wiring Lincoln that he needed more of EVERYTHING! Lee tried that same with US Grant. Grant dropped the gloves and BLOODIED Lee’s Army. The lesson is that McClelland WOULD HAVE overwhelmed Lee IF ONLY he would’ve attacked!

In reply to your comment on my article (dated 08/07/09), I have the following:
Two things about Hal Doofus:
1. The "Southern" pilot incident actually happened. I actually know the pilot's name (I think). My sources won't actually tell me his name; but I have my reasons for thinking it was a close friend of my uncle.
2. The Doofus is drinking heavily. I got this from a "friend" in Scranton.
These two points lead me to the following conclusions: First, Hal Donahue is not a "real" man. What I mean by this is that "real" men do not insult different parts of the country or people from different parts of the country. There have been medal of honor winners from every state in the union (i.e., all the brothers were valiant). It is one thing to "tease" a friend about their home state or region. We all do this. It's fun. But real men DO NOT insult other people. Not without a good reason.
Next, Hal Donahue is "mentally" having a crisis. It could be that he KNOWS that he sold out to the side of "evil". It could be that he has a terminal "health problem". I am not sure.
What I am sure of is that Hal Donahue is "trash" talking (as my daughter calls it). I would just debunk his "talking points" and show others who are reading the thread just how illogical he is.
No threats. The time is not right for that.
