My Country Tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty

Thanks!

Thank you for the walk down memory lane. I also have vivid and pleasant memories of singing this song before class each day. I do have to admit this is the first time I have ever seen the last 3 chorus's of this song as we only sang the first.

Honoring our country is against the rules of the academic elite. Our children are poorer for it. Heck, having ANY allegiance to our country is taboo to the libs.

I am praying for this country to have a Conservative CONVERSION!
Thanks for your support.
May God and Country once again rise as this Nation's core principles!

I remember we had a large flag in each classroom. We did the pledge each morning. I remember learning all of the songs too! It brought back some memories.

I also remember when I was in 4th grade, we learned all sorts of Chrismas songs and we went caroling as a class one night. Of course that would never happen today! Oh, the visions of Christmas past!

Sue

Such fond memories indeed, I also remember the Christmas Caroling!

As Archie Bunker used to sing, "Those were the Daaays."

Those were the days, a pledge that incuded "one nation under God" and America the beautiful.

Thank You for those old school memories.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

thanks Jason

I'm glad you enjoyed the post.
Yesterday morning I woke up with that song ringing through my spirit, and was inspiried to post it.
Yes, God have shed His grace on America.

Remembering

All is not lost in our country, the Sunday after 9/11, the pastor had us sing all four verses of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"
Probably not a hymn of choice for those in lala land, but it was ours!

Which brings to mind the second verse of the Star Spangled Banner. We sang it in school, long ago, but I can't say I've heard it since, though still remember the words:

Oh thus be it ever,
When free men shall stand,
Between their loved homes,
And the war's desolation.
Blessed with victory and peace,
May that heaven rescued land,
Praise the power that hath made,
And preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must,
When our cause it is just,
And this be our motto,
In God is our trust.

Some times I miss the days of yesteryear. I remember being able to do things in school without "offending" the world. I also remember when we showed a lot more respect for our teachers. Ugh!

Countryman

Thanks for adding the 2nd verse of The Star Spangled Banner.
I love, "The Battle Hymn of the Republic",
I am going to look it up and read it! Thanks for the inspiration.
God Bless.
