There is one "ist" you may want to add to your list. That is "Narcissist".
It will certainly clarify why Obama, (a pathological narcissist) and his pretty much narcissist cabinet & house find it so impossible to see or hear or speak the truth or recognize reality; it its their grandiose estimation of their own perceived importance and intelligence. They hold everybody in disdain who would dare have a different opinion/worldview. I believe it would be helpfull for all of us to recognize who it is we've put into the Oval Office. A nice reminder that reading people, those not brainwashed by our schools and the Left, have people in the past who have warned us about government tyranny. Hayak, Friedman, even Adam Smith and part of the Federalist Papers keep reminding us that to keep freedom, we must be wary of fixes from foreign , alien, undemocratic, non-Western, non-capitalistic sources. Yet, we have SCOTUS jurists plus all Dems in the Congress except the Blue Dogs telling us that foreign influences plus more socialism will actually free us up to be .....what? Third Worlders!

I don't think these people consider any end of income to tax in their lifetime - it is eternal. And "unintended consequences" just jumped up and bit Chris Dodd. He specifically added a provision to the Porkulus bill that allowed payment of executive bonuses if they were contractually required. Now, the AIG bonuses (required by contract) are under fire and Dodd is scrambling to create a new tax to diminish them. What brain surgeons we have on Capitol Hill.

I believe you are right. Buyers remorse, the expectations that will be shattered, and conservative bloggers will continue to haunt Obama to his downfall. We study history for a reason, and lets hope people realize the lefts intent on creating equality all around the U.S. will only hurt the people and increase our government. There are immigrants who have escaped socialism and communism for many reasons, and I'm sure they'd be happy to tell people why they did!

You should have seen all of the people they interviewed while waiting in line. It was cold, but we all got along and we all love each other.....blah...blah...and he is the greatest. By the way, not one white person was interviewed. Just had to throw that in there.

OH what a bunch of bumpkin heads we have in Washington. And they get worse each day. Just going their own way, hoping to pass their own agendas and to heck with the American people! I wish they would all go away!

We should be very worried that China may show up on our doorstep to collect the debt. I wonder, if everyone in the country knew all along that our debt was being funded in such a way, would they still be looking for the government to do so much?? Kind of a no-brainer, an entity that doesn't create any value or revenue is very expensive to maintain,and continuosly making it bigger makes it even more expensive. The only way to mitigate that debt is more borrowing...or PLUNDER!!!

Since this AIG issue blew up today, I thought this post ended up being eerily timely. I don't begrudge the folks that are supposed to get the bonuses...I really don't want to see Dodd, Chuckie and Bawney Fwank telling anyone how much compensation is too much. Funny how they wrote the bill for the TARP, Stimulus etc, yet they didn't realize this could happen. They obviously missed the boat on some PLUNDER!! Morons...

Thanks for stopping by! Past is certainly prologue...Santayana had it nailed. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Seems kind of ubiquitous, but too many of our "leaders" (and I use that term loosely) still don't get it. Maybe Grassley had it right, just apply his comments to Congress instead of the AIG folks. At this rate, why would anyone in their right mind want to immigrate to this country? It is going to end up as bad or worse than whatever they came from if we don't stem the tide, and soon.

I agree with your position that the Obama's plan is to load up on the entitlements to gain more adherents hitched to their wagon. But, I believe ultimately the plan fails. I have to believe that, or I have to move to some other country. Or take hostages. I will also grant that it may take longer than '10. We should certainly be planning for a bad outcome, because of "the dumbed down, mushy middle". And that is very unfortunate.

Well, we had the one in our county today. They even closed the freeway for the motorcade. And here I go being evil, he chose the area, because many of the surrounding areas are heavily hispanic and guess what, he mentioned illegal immigrants. I have to side with Dr. Pete; I think four years is all Obama and the dems need to alter the voting landscape enough to ensure repeated victories.

After living in Europe for so long, it’s easy to see the collective malaise prevalent in this culture. Perhaps apathy is a better description. Whatever term you use, the masses accept the nanny state and new generations seem to welcome the status quo.

But the Europeans are missing one little item we have in the states...the 2nd amendment. Hope it doesn't come to that.

Like you, my SUNY Econ courses did not mention much about Say, Friederich Hayek and Milton Friedman, but mumbled a little about Adam Smith.

The only thing the sordid leftists can recall about Smith is that he warned us about unbridled capitalism, something that has never existed from the times of the Egyptians, Romans and until now.

We can have murder, pogroms, revolutions and Marxism with millions of people butchered but let us not let capitalism get too far loose.
