Well said. It is tragic that this perception is out there about the GOP. The party that I know, the party of Reagan and Bush is not the way it has been portrayed by the conservative media. It is a party that believes that every human being is equal in the eyes of God and should have equal protection under the law.

If the "loud voices" take over the party, it's curtains for the GOP! Bush fought so hard to increase the Hispanic and black vote. Those gains have been dashed. The polls among both groups now are back in the Democrat camp.

I'm so sad to see this happen. As you said, the GOP can't win with only the "angry white male vote."

should form her own party...what ya think?

As for moi: I have a terrible time trying to post on TH -- or edit, or do much of anything. I post "mirror posts" on my blogspot site, which mainly exists to keep me from being totally frustrated. I have reprinted my column in the comment section -- all I could access -- on the townhall site (http://camp2008victoryA.townhall.com). I am very critical of Townhall as an institution and of many of its "frequent commenters." There is a real need to "cleanse" the Party and to start re-thinking just about everything. That process is already taking place in various quarter, and it is one of the driving forces behind the Palin campaign. In today's column, I'm "hard" on Bruce, who recommended Joe Lieberman as a good VP candidate on a "national unity" ticket. I think Sen. Lieberman would be an absolutely awful choice, an exercise in cynicism rather a real effort to respond to criticisms of "politics as usual."

Sanity, I hope you're recovering well from your "episode." I always benefit greatly from your insights.

I suspect a higher percentage of Blacks favor border security first than whites.

I said most Americans were NOT White...they are Black, Hispanic, Oriental, Asian AND all those listed under "minority"

And you don't have to "suspect" anything. Just look at the MAJOR candidates in BOTH parties...they have the best political anaylsis in the nation whose job it is to KNOW what the American people want and care about.

Now...how many of the top tier in the GOP is for deporting the 12 million illegals?

And how many in the Dem camp is for deporting the 12 million illegals?

And who are the two candidates carrying the "border issue" banner...Tancredo and Hunter...and they are where in ALL the polls?

In otherwords...the ONLY chance this issue has of ever turning out the way you absolutist want is if the zero to nothing chance candidates win the primary and then the General.

Do you comprehend exactly what the talk show hosts fought and gave you? The SAME amnesty that Reagan gave us...the "just enforce the laws" that Newt's Congress did NOTHING about...that allowed 3 million illegals to grow to possibly 12 million (who knows) and how many more by the time anyone dares touch this issue again.

I need to put a contract out on Townhall. I go into the create/edit post (reached through "Manage Your Blog") and the "font" is stuck, making it impossible to create (or paste, which I usually do). This is the kind of failure that the Townhall computer geeks (if they have any) must prevent at all costs, but they don't.

There is media interest in what's going on with the Palin Movement. The Anchorage Daily News and one TV station in Alaska have expressed interest and there are a lot of "hits" from Alaska people on palin's site and apparently many of the others (because of the links).
